I’m 66 years old, never been in a fight, never will be. I use my brain to solve problems.

Of course i use my brain too in fact i always avoid fights. But when you're robbed and the aggressor try to smack your face against a wall I can say you that you have to fight back otherwise you get serious injuries or even die. Only option there is to fight back and run away. That happened to me and I fortunately fight back successfully and managed to escape.

Anyway i opened this thread just to talk about the additional risks of fighting with an implant, and LostSheep provided a good answer about it.

All I can add to this from an implant position based on what I know of the different ones:

If there is an abdominal shot (punch), my theory is that the reservoir will just be jostled around like other internal organs (yes, I'm saying that the reservoir is now considered a man-made organ). If the reservoir was to get a direct shot and encounter excessive external pressures, an AMS reservoir would possibly fair a bit worse and might cause looser quick-connect couplers to pop (in my theory). A titan reservoir with the built in valve that prevents auto-inflation will likely fair better because the valve will keep the saline pressure inside the reservoir and it won't pressurize the tubing up to the pump like the AMS would.

In my opinion, the odds are very slim that the pressures would rise enough in any reservoir to cause failure in the tubing connectors, due to a punch in the gut, but the Titan might fair a little better due to the built-in valve inside the reservoir.

Wear a sports cup for your implant and bring some pepper spray with you.
With a 12-foot spray, you can avoid a lot of hassle from being quite a distance away.
They would be too drunk to remember who sprayed them

I haven't been in real fight with my implant.
But I have done some fighting in the gym with my coach. Not the same thing, but close enough.
Difference is my coach wouldn't kick me in the crotch for example...
Anyway, I've been doing some grappling with him, and some standard kicks, knees, punches, elbows etc.

I'd say fighting with an implant is a pretty bad idea. I am speaking for myself now, and there will be individual differences as always.
But even at 5 years after surgery, I would say I am more sensitive down there than before.
It always hurt as hell getting a blow down there, but it is worse now.
I would never want to get kicked on my nuts before my implant either, but this is at another level. I think it would hurt more, and something would probably break.

Of course, the way you present your question, another answer is - what does it matter?
If you only fight when you have absolutely no choice, then it doesn't matter what happens to your implant, right?
If you are forced to fight, it means you would do it even if you knew the price was an implant revision surgery...

I'm concerned that having an implant would put an end to grappling, but I accept thats just the way it is. Even wearing a cup, which can cause problems itself in jujitsu, I would be very wary of damaging anything, or giving the impression I had an ereciton.
