Thank you all for your help! I hope to get advice from those with the malleable implant. I do hope they come out with a electric implant soon.

I am scheduled for surgery next Friday (the 18th). I am worried that I may have to deal with the malleable implant for now. Are there any men with a malleable that I talk to?

The pump must generate around (I am guessing) 20 psi to get a proper erection. A smaller bulb or a piston arrangement would probably work with less force/effort but would take longer to pump up, thus likely it was deemed to serve a much smaller market than the current designs.

There is a thread on now one man maximized the pressure was able to generate.

I surmise that maybe his method or this one: place the pump bulb between the heels of both hands at the little indent right near the wrist and press together - interlacing fingers might help, too.

might work for you.

One fellow I recall took to placing his scrotum (the pump bulb, principally) on a pad on the bathroom counter and pressing on it with his hand, thereby bypassing hand strength and using arm strength and his weight to maximize pressure. Discuss with your surgeon and the manufacturer's Patient Liaison.

(edited to add)

I see that rdnkbiker already mentioned using a countertop to aid in pumping up. I missed that. I also recall there was one guy who was joking about getting a pair of (padded-jaw) pliers to use leverage to pump up. It seems to me a well-designed tool might work.

Also, keep in mind the strength and dexterity needed to operate the release button.

Yeah, there are advantages to the malleable. Simpler on the operating table, simpler to operate for sex and the simpler design makes failure/revision less likely.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the implants. I wish there were someone with experience with a malleable.

Sorry if this post seems harsh. I hope your paraplegia does not make it more difficult to follow my advice.

There are several members who have malleable implants and some who have gone from inflatable to malleable and others from malleable to inflatable and some who have gone both directions for various reasons.

Read through a couple years of past posts and you will find them.

I read through about 30 months of past posts when I first joined. It took a couple weekends (not non-stop) and if you skim just titles, you will find more than half of the posts. From that, you will be able to get a list of names of malleable implantees. From there, you can PM (Private Message) them and also find their entire posting histories.

Sorry, I don't have a list of their member names.

Issues that men have seem to be concentrated on a few questions
Rigidity seems adequate, but not as rigid (unbendable) as an inflatable

Length must be limited to what can fit in the penis on the date of implant - lengthening is not an option (though lengthening with inflatables is uncertain - some men report it is possible)

Major drawback is stowage and deployment. The penis is never "loose" or naturally flaccid. It is always stiff and full size. For stowage during the day, it is bent to be as unobtrusive as possible, but it is always a compromise. When naked it does not "dangle" naturally. It may be uncomfortable. Deploying while clothed (e.g. for urination) can be problematic. Stowing away afterwards, also. Don't scrape your glans across a metal zipper!

Other tips are abundant in the threads you will easily find with a minimal amount of diligence.

Jonathan Clavell MD in Houston did my implant surgery and he was great! I would use him again for IPP surgery without hesitation. Search here at FT and put his name in.
