Inguinal Pain

Postby BmorePaul » Wed Dec 02, 2020 3:36 pm

Anyone ever experienced new inguinal and pubic pain around their reservoir? Started last week. I am 14 months out from my implant. Feels almost like the area is "bruised".

I did have discomfort from my reservoir after surgery and it lasted for some time. It has not come back. Do you have a local uro you could see about it?

What were you doing when it started?
Seems odd that it would appear after all this time. Were you particulary adventurous at that time?

Hard to diagnose over the internet and especially since I am not any sort of medical professional.

Having said that, I will ask:

Do you have a fever? Could indicate an infection. Get to a doctor right away.

Right side? Do you still have your appendix? Get to a doctor right away.

Do you have a history of liver disease? The liver is higher up than what you described, but could be the source. Get to a doctor right away.

Of course, a hernia is always a possibility. It can happen or produce symptoms in the groin or almost anywhere between the chest and upper thigh.

How are your bowel movements? Could be that you are constipated. (And it does not matter if you have regular bowel movements or not....I felt much as you describe a few years ago and an x-ray revealed that I had buildup of feces in my bowel. Doctor diagnosed constipation. Exercise, hydration, more fiber in my diet and stool softeners were recommended.) Some people take a "cleanout" break periodically. Once a year, once a month, depending on your situation. Grocery stores sell Magnesium Citrate or other laxatives.

Just guesses. Some causes are benign and some require immediate action.

If your implant is working as it has been since implantation, it is probably not a leak is my guess and probably not related to the implant more than a year after, but any foreign object could carry with it a risk of infection and such infection could lay dormant until it migrated out from the scar tissue formed around the foreign object. So, a phone call to your doctor may be in order. Just in an abundance of caution.

Keep in mind that the reservoir is inserted in a man-made "blunt dissected" hernia - meaning the doctor used his fingers or other object like hemostat or surgical scissors to "open up" the muscle to the abdominal area to insert the reservoir.

That hernia may be the source of the discomfort and may be healing or it may be getting larger depending on any strenuous exercise.

Thanks for the replies. No fever, it could have gotten tugged after some adventurous play, but that was about a week prior. I texted Kramer. Waiting to see if he responds.

Must have been a strain. Took ibuprofen for a few doses and I'm fine.

Fuck me, I never thought of that. They have to cut a hole in you abdominal muscle to insert the reservoir? Is that right?
I don't know why I never considered this, I think I assumed they just went under and up.....I have idea.
If they go through the muscle, then the tubes would be encased in muscle wall...... this can't be right. How does it work?

It's more like the doctor would have separated the various muscles from each other using his finger and made a path for the reservoir. If you go out to the web and look for "Inguinal Hernia", you'll see some such hernias are caused by the intestine or other abdominal structures pushing through the hole in the inguinal area where the spermatic cords and blood vessels go into the scrotum. There's already a "hernia" there by design. The doctor only enlarges or aligns it with his finger to make way for the reservoir.
