Hello Guys,
I have gained much from this one of a kind forum and now hope I can give back something of value. More background is at the bottom of the page so I won't repeat it. I am 73 Y.O. and try to stay fit.....a work in progress.
It has now been a little more than 48 hours since my IPP surgery. At this point I am very please with the results. I have had only minor pain. I was dreading the removal of the catheter but the truth be told removing some of the tape that stabilized the IV was more uncomfortable.
I was very fortunate to have the two surgeons I had that I expect none have heard of on this forum. I will be happy to post their names once I have their permission.
I did my due diligence and actually consulted with 6 (six) Urological surgeons.I belong to Kaiser HMO and my personal urologist said he would refer me to as many as were needed to help me make that decision. My primary surgeon was an intern under Dr. Levine in Chicago. Because there isn't near as much available for reviews in that PPO environment I decided to call Dr. Levine. I was probably pretty lucky that I called at a time he could take the call. He was very helpful and answered specific questions. The last question was if he were in my position, knowing all that he knows, would he have my surgeon do his surgery. Without hesitation he said he would.
A 22cm Coloplast Titan was placed pen-scrotally with a Genesis pump and a 125ml reservoir. Placement of the reservoir require and additional incision above the penis and to the left about 4 inches, as a few months ago I had bilateral inguinal hernia repairs. The surgeon didn't want to chance contact with the mesh used for that procedure. That area is probably the most sensitive of all the areas but even that isn't too bad. I may send more pictures later.
All in All I feel Blessed
