Southern CA Implant Doc Recommendation

Postby BertoV » Sun Nov 15, 2020 12:14 am

Hello everyone, new to Franktalk, my first post, looking forward to hearing from you all! At 35 diagnosed with hypertension and since then been using viagra/cialis. I’m 50 now, and in the last year the pills were not working like they used to, so did Trimix for the last 10 months and I’m not liking the pain and although great erections, they are sometimes painful and I’m starting to notice lumps and a bit of narrowing at base. Went to a couple of urologists and they say I’m fine, the last Urologist did a Penile Doppler and said I have great vascular health, but after Trimix the pills are not working, and I’m done with injecting. I’m not sure how accurate a penile Doppler is, I don’t think my issues are psychological only? Doesn’t seem like it! I’d like to get another opinion as I’ve heard the longer you wait, the more you shrink with ED, so I’ve made appointments with Dr. Antonio Alarcón in LA and Dr. Jesse Mills out of UCLA. Bottom line, pills aren’t working and I’m fearing peyronie’s with continued injections, so I’m hoping you folks know of a good Penile implant doc to explore that option. Both Alarcón and Mills perform implant surgery, but it seems the west coast doesn’t have the same caliber of penile implant docs like Eid and Kramer in the East Coast. With COVID I don’t want to travel, so I’d like to know who’s the best in SoCal? I want to best surgeon for best results and to retain size if I do go implant route. Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Glad you found it. A lot of information here. Just wear out the search tab and read a bunch and ask any questions you have. Dont't forget to check out the documents worth reading in the general section of this board.

Some may disagree with you about the west coast not having doctor's as good as the east coast. You might do a search on this site and on the web for Dr. Karpman. There was another really good one as well be if I remember correctly he retired but had a doctor he worked with and took over for him. Someone else might have more information on this. I do not have any info on the 2 doctors you wrote about. But you might plug them into the search tab on this board to see if any thing comes up.

Again welcome and best of luck going forward with this.

I'm extremely happy with the results of my implantation and the care I got from Dr. Jesse Mills @ UCLA in Santa Monica, CA. He's not high volume (about 100 per year) but he's an excellent surgeon, patient (I asked hundreds of questions, he listened and answered every one) and he has a very pleasant demeanor. I suggest you put Dr. Mills on your list of surgeons for consultation. Although he will install a Coloplast Titan if the patient insists, he strongly prefers AMS products, which are generally more suited for men with average to slightly larger penises.
Implanted 5/6/20 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA; AMS 700 LGX 18 cm w/2 cm RTEs. I'm 76 & fit but had ED for 20 years. Pills/injections ultimately failed, including 3 ER trips for Priapism; Shockwave & embryonic stem cell therapies didn't help either.

Dr Jeffry Loh- Doyle is doing 3-4 a week. He is at USC Keck. He was trained by Dr Stewart Boyd who was the master in the LA Area. USC keck does more implants than Eid and Kramer combined, I am told. Dr Boyd is semi retired but does still work one day a week. In August, I had a AMS 800 Urinary stpincher valve installed and Dr Boyd was there to assist Dr Loh- Doyle. Now I have a pump in each side of my sack. I would highly recommend USC Keck and DR Loh- Doyle. Great hospital also. P.S. Dr Karpman is the most talked about on this site for the west coast. When I interviewed Dr Karpman, he told me to see DR Boyd as he was the best and closer to me.

Just curious, oldbeek...why were you implanted with a 15 cm + 5 RTEs instead of an 18 cm + 2 RTEs. Does this have something to do with the depth of your crus?

My cruse is a full 3 inch deep. The rte needed to be that long for the tubes to be out near my pubic bone. My hinge point is right at the pubic bone. It hangs nice and stands tall at 3 o'clock. Can hang a hand towel on it.
