Sensitivity and feelings with an implant
Re: Sensitivity and feelings with an implant
I'm actually experiencing more sensitivity post-implant, and I'm certainly enjoying it. No more struggling to reach orgasms, even if it's number two or three. Part of it may indeed be due to not constantly thinking about maintaining an erection. And no more pain from trimix injections is definitely a factor.

JiminFL...You dick might be sensitive and that's really awesome. We're happy for you, mate! However, I think you entirely missed brickbat's point, Mr. (Not at All Otherwise) Sensitive...this thread was started to seek the sharing by members who needed and have used something that has helped them with a post-op reduction in shaft and glans sensitivity. It's not a forum to brag about what you have but many others struggle to have as well, especially when you bring nothing to the table that might help an FT brother.
Implanted 5/6/20 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA; AMS 700 LGX 18 cm w/2 cm RTEs. I'm 76 & fit but had ED for 20 years. Pills/injections ultimately failed, including 3 ER trips for Priapism; Shockwave & embryonic stem cell therapies didn't help either.

With trimix, I had the first experience in my life where I could focus on sex and not worry about my erection, it was the best sex I ever had, even though no orgasm. So, an implant seems attractive in that sense.
Cialis had about a 15-30% chance of keeping me erect enough for orgasm, but about a 5% chance of being erect enough for penetration (once in a blue moon). If I could have gotten to 50/50 chance of penetrating, I would have probably stuck with Cialis rather than implant.
Interesting. I am not happy with 50/50 because losing an erection mid-coital and having to shift around and thrust harder to try get it back again causes bad sex for my partner, I'm a lot more conscious of that because we had long periods (years) of no sex, basically due to bad sex (ED didn't help).

Barry London,
After reading your response, I'd suggest you go back and re-read the initial questions. If you interpreted my acknowledgement of heightened post-op sensitivity as some type of braggadocios, you are mistaken. I thought maybe it was just me, but then I noticed your "response critique" for hopeful future as well. This fellow has been nothing but informative and helpful in his many FT postings and exchanges.

Mea culpa, mate. There is another similar thread that asks for members to share their success stories about methods to improve sensitivity. BTW, my last name is Landon, not London!

I do think it's an important choice that is really up to whoever is looking to get an implant. Maybe if I were at 50/50 and had been at 100% before, I would have a different perspective on the whole thing. Since my erectile issues were basically lifelong, but I still had a decent sex life, I had to do a lot of soul searching on whether an implant was a choice I could live with. I think most people who get them are quite satisfied, but as barry and others have pointed out, there are risks like losing sensitivity.
Overall though, my answer was just my personal feelings on it. I didn't lose sensitivity, but even if I had, some loss of sensitivity would have been an easy trade versus the inability to penetrate. That math might be different for you or for others. I'm glad you're here and having these discussions, because it means you're putting in lots of thought.

Hiya, it's been a month later, do you still think injections are better than implant? A few people post on the injection forum that they got sick of worrying about prolonged erections and went with an implant.

Re: Sensitivity and feelings with an implant
For me, it was the Aprostadil in Bi-Mix injectible that sent me to the ER four (4) times with Priapism. However, it was not the reason I stopped injectibles and opted for the IPP. The injections (taken for more than one year) were starting to cause Peyronie's Disease and I didn't want this condition to make getting an IPP more challenging.

Re: Sensitivity and feelings with an implant
Conclusion: I would stay with injectibles for as long as possible. Getting an IPP is indeed the "Final Frontier" so I would (and did) try every other possible alternative before opting for surgery. Yes, it's wonderful to have on-demand erections that last as long as desired but my loss of sensitivity -- which leads to orgasm and ejaculation -- was not a result that I anticipated. Keep what mother nature gave you for as long as possible.

The thing is anaorgasmia is a side effect of injecting too.
