Rear tip extenders

Postby Jamie123 » Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:39 am

Hello I’ve heard the use of rear tip extenders reduces the stability of the penile implant if so does anyone know why rear tip extenders are used . Thanks.

Just an uneducated assumption but I believe they're for 'fine tuning' the size of the implant since the main implants are fixed sizes.

Alfa88 is correct. That is their primary purpose. They are also used to place the tubing to match where the surgeon made the incision in the tunica (after all, they do have to exit the tunica albuginea so the inflatable implant tubes can communicate with the pump and reservoir).

It is true that the junction between the rear tip and the inflatable tubes does flex, so having that junction further proximal makes the inflated implant more stable and further distal less stable. But that third effect is less important than the first two.

I have 2 RTEs and absolutely no problem with stability.
Implanted 5/6/20 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA; AMS 700 LGX 18 cm w/2 cm RTEs. I'm 73 & fit but had ED for 20 years. Pills/injections ultimately failed, including 3 ER trips for Priapism; Shockwave & embryonic stem cell therapies didn't help either.

A man with a deep crus would have less instability than one with a shallow crus and the same rear tip length/RTEs. So I would assume yours is deep or you have other tissue structures in your body that help. Every man will be different.

I have absolutely no idea if I have a deep or shallow crus. I just know that the IPP works the way it's supposed to and that makes me VERY happy!!!

RTE's come in different lengths. I have 1 rte and it is 5cm long. It was needed to get the inflation hoses in the right position near my pubic bone. I have a deep cruse.
