How are you dealing with Implant Delays?

Postby LeRoastBeef » Sat Oct 03, 2020 1:54 pm

I'm asking this question so I can take a more postive approach to the day, rather than go on a rant that achieves nothing.
In Britain our NHS has pretty much shut down due to Covid. Kids have died of cancer due to lack of treatment. Only Covid matters. I shall say no more.

How are you coping with any delays you have experienced? Has your outlook on life changed?

It has all but removed my fear of implantation, which was already low. Realising that I may face more years of delay, that I'm losing out on my prime years, has made me desperate for the op. I would run in tomorrow if offered.
Implanted with AMS 700 lgx, 2021.

Western part of USA here. We already had a personal hold on my implant due to a large house remodel & a few othe reasons. I had a strange episode recently with my blood pressure having a very large spread between the top & bottom numbers. I had a complete cardio exam over a month. EKG, ECG, MRA & some that I didn't catch the name of. Never had a scheduling problem. Access to healthcare seemed very good in my opinion. All results were good.
Had a grandson born 3 months ago. The health system worked great.
During my consultation with Dr. Brant 3 months ago. He said that getting a hospital surgery date was iffy. But several special surgical centers were available. I'm not sure if those type of facilities are present in Europe. Since I'm closing in on age 65. I suspect that my insurance would drag their feet to avoid the cost. Medicare will cover it so my insurance would have to cover the 20% co-pay.
Putting that all into perspective. Mid winter looks like about the best that I can hope for. Just discussed the implant (again) with my wife. Of course she cares for my health first. But she did express that she sure would like a dick that worked. Contrary to some wives on here. She has always preffered the real deal. Not a big fan of toys. Oral is fine but not a steady diet of it.
Keep up your spirits. This shall settle down. Seems every few years a super variation of the flu shows up. People panic, sadly the vulnerable will bear the brunt of it. A vaccine will be developed. Get that famous stiff upper lip on. You'll make it. Good luck.

Yeah it’s tough. I’ve been waiting for it since beginning of this year. I am optimistic though. Hopefully situation clears up and I get it soon.
A young guy in his early 30s from South Asia. Implanted Titan 22cm by Dr. Tariq Hakky in Atlanta (Dec 2020). Amazing doctor! No pain during recovery. My size is 5.75” x 4.6” which is better than pre-OP size of 5.6” x 4.5”. Hoping to gain more in future.

I'm in the UK and I had my implant surgery done about 2 weeks ago. It was supposed to be done earlier but was delayed due to Covid19. I actually am surprised it was done this soon, I thought it would be at least next year. What I will say is that they seem to be trying to get as many patients out of the way as quickly as possible because they contacted me out of the blue with an appointment that was only 2 weeks away.

What I am worried about is any future revisions or complications (fingers crossed it's not going to happen) because I'm not sure I could wait as long as I have waited for this surgery to just have the implant replaced. It took me about 4 years to prove that I needed the implant and then get it.

I got shutdown with April Ops with Dr. Eid. I'm in Florida, even after NYC opened, travel is an issue. Trying a Local (orlando) Doc in November. Hope to get it done. Wild swings with numbers week to week.

Maybe December, maybe next year.

Glad I am not in UK. We don't need socialized medicine in the USA. From the time I decided I needed an implant.(all nerves removed in a RP and allergic to Trimix) It was 1 week to a consult then 2 more weeks till surgery at USC/Keck in Los Angeles. In May I decided I was done with wearing diapers for incontinence. Called for an appointment. 1 week later virtual appointment with the surgeon and 3 weeks later on the operating table. My surgeon said it was not elective surgery, it was a matter of quality of life.

I've had a delay of a month. I have my surgery booked for next week (October 12) and now starting to really think about it. Some pangs of anxiety mixed with excitement.
Glad to be alive at 65 and living in OZ. RP 2015 and consequential severe ED. Tried meds (side effects!), injections 2 years (now effectiveness and injection problems) , VED (disastrous). Implanted with Titan One Touch on 12th October 2020.
