I was set to get implanted in 2019, until insurance denied and it was going to be out of pocket. My wife was not happy about the cost and also expressed that she was not fully cool with the idea of an implant.

Our sex life has only gotten worse, which obviously affects our emotional connection. I finally addressed it with her, in a vulnerable way. I want us to have that connection back. At this point she says it my body,I can do what I wish with it, but it just doesn't feel like something she will be excited about (more the mechanical nature of it in her eyes). Also the cost is a big issue, out of pocket.

I am hoping my new insurance in 2021 covers it, but realistically I doubt it will. So paying 20k out of pocket when we have tons of lawyer bills.

Anyways, my wife seems somewhat open to chatting with another guys wife about their experience with the process. Phone call, text messages, or even just your wife writing up a word document and sending it to us would be really beneficial for us. I would prefer for it to be someone who is a bit younger, in their 30s or 40s.

Secondary question, can anyone the best videos or pamphlets that give more info, and make it seem less mechanical and less like an "old person" thing.

I just took mine for its first test drive, and let’s just say my wife loved it! Did not notice any difference. If anything she said it’s like it was years ago. Also the benefit of not worrying about losing an erection after climax is an amazing benefit of an implant.

Was she at all apprehensive about you getting the implant in the first place? Or was she more excited ?

No she actually pushed for the implant. “Just get the implant and be done with it”. I tried Xiaflex (fail), excision/grafting (somewhat successful) straightened me out but not rigid enough for sex, pills (fail), Intraurethral gel (fail), and injections (fail). I’ll ask her if she’s willing to talk with your wife. She’s actually scared of me now with my new toy haha.

So, you both have been struggling with these decisions for a while now. It is good to hear that your wife is finally accepting that your needs are valid. But it would be so much better if she were not just "going along", but in full support. Alas, we cannot all have everything we want all at once.

Here's hoping your wife becomes more enthusiastic after you have the implant. Take it gently and and let her discover the wonder that is the new, more durable, you.

My wife was fully supportive and was with me right up until they advised her she could not actually walk into the OR. From comments in the linked vid, Dr C noticed her "attentiveness".

We had been without sex for some time and tried it out when cleared. Turns out things changed over that time and sex had become painful for her. That was first and last time it was used.

I think even just having your wife write up a 1 page document would be helpful at this point.
