Questions from a newbie.

Postby hope794 » Sun Sep 06, 2020 5:07 pm

Hi all. As you know, i'm considering an implant. I've got 2 more questions about it.

1. How much will an implant last, on average?
I've visited Dr. Eid website, he says that if you use 1-2 times a week, it will last 10-15 years. I find this ridicolous, tbh. I'm 26 years old, if i'll contain myself, 3 times a week will only be masturbation. Lets say that i've got a girlfriend and i have sex with her another 3 times a week. It means that, on average, i'll use it 6 times per week. So 3 times Dr. Eid's statement.

Does it mean that my implant's lifespan will be of 3-5 years? It would cost an insane amount of money. I would like to know, from the long-term implanted brothers, how much did your implant last before "breaking up" and how much was your usage by average.

2. Let's say that my implant will last 7 years. It means that i'll have to have many many revisions during my life: for example, from 26 to 70, it means that i'll have about 6-7 revisions. But many people say that, the more revisions you have, the more it's risky for penile infections.
So i would like to know:
-Why if you have revision you are more prone to infections? What's the scientifical principle?
- I've read that after the 4° revision, your risk of infection is nearly 100%. Is it true? It means that my sexual life would end in my 40's. Unbearable.

Please, share your experiences. Thanks!

1. You cannot really tell, some guys implant fail in a year and some men who inflate the implant daily say it lasted for 20+ years. It is similar to breast implants in some reagard, some last 2, some 10 and some lifetime. The chance of implant lasting at least 15 years is very high. Implant get upgraded and new models are being introduced. Implants will last longer and longer. Revision might not be such a bad thing because with time they can upsize your implant or you can swap brands if it doesnt suit you.

2. The study which has 100% infection rate at 4 revisions has a very small sample size, it is not representative. I think there were just one or two people in the 4 revisions group. There are some young guys who underwent 4-5 revisions to position the implant properly and they do not have an infection. (Rukitan)

If your ED has progressed so much that you need an implant to have sex and cannot use pills or injections, just go for an implant.

My Titan quit after 12 years. Over that period I inflated it very rarely, maybe a total of 50 times or less. Who knows, if I had inflated it once a week it might have lasted for just one year. There's really no way of telling - odds are good that yours could last 15 years or more.

Hope794, lots of guys focus on the lifespan & failure rates. I maintain that is focusing on the wrong stats. The chance of having erections after the onset of ED continues to decline to zero. So even if you need a revision. Which frequently is merely a pump replacement. You have had several years of satisfying sex vs little to no sex in the same period. Which is better?
Revisions can go all the way from replacing everything down to merely changing out a splice. I've had a partial circumcision as an adult. The fear factor of getting your junk cut on far exceeds the actual discomfort.
Also, remember that the only moving (so to speak) part is the pump.
