AUS affected glans engorgment

Postby oldbeek » Sat Aug 22, 2020 3:58 pm

I had an 800 AUS installed 7-21. My glans that were previously cold and withered, sometimes white. The glans has been a nice natural plump and red ever since the aus was installed. At first I thought it was swelling but it has been 4 weeks now. AUS gets activated in 2 weeks so I hope my glans stays plump after activation.Nice to see my friend looking healthy again.

Easiest way to explain it. Google Boston Scientific Artificial urinary spintcher AUS 800. A valve on your urethra to stop urine dribble after a prostatectomy. Has valve, pump and reservoir, similar to implant. If I get any more junk down there I will need a jock strap with suspenders.

Forget the suspenders. Rig up an iv stand on wheels.
I sure hope that it works as you expect it to. Hard to imagine many more obnoxious things to deal with.

Dr didn't know why the change. He just said I got a bonus. Activated now. works pretty good, but have to remember to release it to pee.

I'd like to know more about how effective the aus is, oldbeek. I'm a candidate for dual implantation of the aus and ipp due to now having ed and 12oz daily urine leakage post rp 4 years ago. No problems prior to the surgery so the dual outcomes are, to say the least, extremely depressing to the point of existential termination. Having to deal with either ed or urine leakage individually is bad enough but having deal with both together is off the scale of sanity. How are you managing the "toolbox" complexities and how effective is the aus as a practical matter? I'm about at the end of my rope.

first off, The AUS comes in various sizes. It is a matter of the surgeon choosing the right size AUS. In pre AUS surgery, my implant doc stopped by. He was the master for 30 years here in LA. He was assisting my surgeon because he and I had some prior history. Cant say how happy that made me. Anyway get an experienced surgeon. If the AUS is sized to large, you may still have leakage. Mine is tight. I didn't even use pads during the healing process and the valve was not activated yet.
Prior to install I was only using 1 light pad a day. Now if I don't remember to drain it when I need to go, I may get a drip or 2. Cotton shorts absorb it. Cant even imagine 12oz a day. My worst leakage was when I would ride my quad that I use training bird dogs. I would leak pretty bad with my legs over the quad seat. Don't leak at all on my quad now.
Aus pump is in right side of sack. very small and plyable. 3 pumps with right hand while holding shaft with left. Your implanted shaft is nothing like a post RP dink. Flaccid it will be within 1/2 inch of your pre RP hard on size. The whole package gets some getting used to.
There is some pain in the AUS healing. I highly recommend it but most surgeons won't do both at the same time. Good luck.

Thanks for the information,OB. The physiological effects of having ed and copious leakage post RP are difficult to deal with. My RP was not without issue either; I was in the hospital for 8 days after the surgery due to an ileus caused by the anesthesia. Two years later I had a trans-urethral sling put in but that has been ineffective although it did slow the daily volume down a bit. I'm going to have to go with the full apparatus to get any sanity back. I guess I am concerned about operating the wrong device at the wrong time if you get my drift. Using the right tool for the job.

Pump is much smaller and easy 1 hand operation. But the location of the valve is still very uncomfortable. Maybe because I have 2ea 5cm rte's that it is nestled between. May have been more comfortable without the rte's and had soft implant tubes.
