hi,

I've been following the forum regularly for a while. 38 years old. I've had liver transplantation 18 years ago and have diabetes for 8 years. ED getting worse everyday. Pills don't work much. Today i see a doctor in my city whom has a good reputation and experience. I was sure to have an implant before entering his office. But he wanted me to consider another option which is ESWT and PRP sessions after venous leakage surgery. He said I could also consider the implant, but he warned a few things.

-i've had inguinal hernia surgery when i was i child. he said if there is an adhesion as a result of this surgery, a 3-piece prosthesis may not be attached during the operation and it may be necessary to return to 1 piece. he stated that he doesn't see that in his own experience but it existed in the literature.
I've not heard this anywhere before. is anyone?

-implants are great but your partner can distinguish an implant /difference from a normal penis and may be afraid. That's really different from what i've read in here. maybe titans are since they'r so rigid? But doesn't it feel normal. I consider to have an AMS LGX. Can you tell a difference from a normal strong erection? He said if you are married or etc.and your partner is also ok with it then no problem but if you want to have one night stands then you not find what you expect. Since i am single and want to have one night stands it's also an issue for me.

-lastly the total operations he offered will cost about half of the implant. so he doesn't look like chasing money. hethinks he can give me an additional 5-10 years before implant with that method.

any suggestions? anyone with similar experiences?

Hector,
ESWT and PRP works for some but I am sure those are with less comorbidities and still have some remaining functions so as a boost it might help for some time.
I am not sure if both procedures are covered by commercial insurances.
I know my insurance Aetna considers PRP as experimental and does not cover it. I don’t know if you tried injections BIMIX or TRIMIX. If you did not, it would be worth trying it. If you already did, then implant is your best option. I had one 23 months ago and it works for my wife and I.
Is it really natural looking and feeling? In my experience it is not natural look and feel but when nothing worked for me then implant became viable option and it gave me my sex life back. I am prostate cancer survivor.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'd challenge you to find anyone online or otherwise who said ESWT or PRP worked well to cure their ED. I just don't think it's an option that actually works.
Early 30s with ED for years from penis enlargement stretching and jelqing. Implant by Dr Eid on 24 June 2021 with a Titan 24cm with +1cm RTE on one side and -1cm cut off on the other side

I am also not sure. i haven't tried injections , but it doesn't look a nice way to me. i better take the risks and get the implant. but i need to see more comments about natural look and feeling...otherwise i can try eswt and prp together.

A second opinion might be useful. We have our opinions and experiences to relate here, but there is nothing as good as a clinical exam. One from another urologist experienced with E.D. and the full range of treatments would, I think, be helpful to sort out your questions and options.

In the meantime, reading a few years of past posts/threads would give you the background knowledge to form your questions, interpret the answers and evaluate the potentials and risks. I did that when I first joined FranKtalk and found the knowledge well worth the several hours it took (over a couple weekends). You get a lot more knowledge quickly in a huge slug than you get waiting for answers to trickle in from just the members currently reading. Past posts from members no longer here are loaded with information.

Some guys use injections with success for many years. A good solid blood filled dick is better than an implant.

Just another opinion. Does it look natural? Considering the broad spectrum of what private parts of both sexes look like. The pictures that I've seen, I'd challenge you to prove that it is out of the limits of "normal".
Can your partner tell? Seems to me like that by not pumping it to max or fucking her for hours on end. Her knowing that it is an implant is very unlikely.
Will she be afraid? This is almost ridiculous. Looking at some of the baseball bats that porn stars are packing. Men of that size do get laid. So I'm on the side of no. You won't be scaring anybody more than the dicks that are already in the world do. If anything, you might get a reputation as a man that women on the single scene should date.
I think that you need a better doctor more in touch with the real world. He is giving you info that I'm fairly sure isn't shared by other doctors.
Oh, not sure that your money theory holds true. Sure the first surgey is cheaper but there is a high chance that he'll also get the implant money at a later date.

thanks for all the valuable responses. i'm more on the implant side (%51). it's also less procedures. just one operation and then you are ready after several challenging weeks...

I just searched for info on PRP. Seems to have more down sides & pretty much no up sides. The shock wave treatment has been used by several members & I do not remember a single good result. So in one hand you have dubious treatments & in the other hand you have a treatment with 30 years or more of mainly success. Well let's think about which one to try?

I thought penile venous ligation surgery has very limited success and even if it one were to have a successful surgical outcome it doesn't last very long (like a couple of years)? Not only that, I read somewhere that venous Ligation surgery could possibly make getting an implant difficult if more fibrosis tissue develops?
