Drain Placement
I'm scheduled for an implant next month and wondering about a drain I keep reading about that gets removed the next day. Where do they put it? What is it draining? Does it need maintenance?
53 years old, married 32 years. Decades of ED & PE. BPH. Tried Viagra W & W/O T-Shots, Levitra and Cialis, Edex, Trimix starter, medium, strong with poor results, VED. Implanted w/AMS700CX 21cm X 12mm w/1.5cm RTE by Dr. Leroy Jones 9/1/20

Drain is intended to drain blood from your scrotum and prevents hematoma formation in the scrotum.

It's really your surgeon's preference. I did not have a drain at all.

I had a drain for a weekend and it was removed on Monday morning. No pain at all. The reason I had a drain was that I take blood thinner and I stopped it a week before implant. After my surgery I still was oozing blood more than the surgeon would have liked. He did not want to send me home like that because the blood would have gone into my body. Hope this helps. It was no big deal at all.
66 yr old male married 36 yrs use trimix four yrs, cilais and Viagra. trimix work well developed scarring on both sides had implant 1/9/2020 at UT Med Ctr, Knoxville, TN Dr. John Lacy.

my drain was in my abdomen where the saline bag was placed just for over night pulled it out next morning no pain just felt weird pulling it out

HBP since my 20s Full ED i was 55 when i received my implant January 17th 2017 sever scare tissue through corpora cavernosa clear to the glands (no blood flow) complete revision new equipment july 10th 2023 AMS CX 21cm by DR.William Brant very happy

Your nurses will take care of all the maintenance. It is no big deal.
