Trimix Gel: a helper for glans engorgement?, or not worth the trouble ?

I am starting this thread after a private message stressing the interests in whether tri-mix gel is worth using and regarding questions on how, why, , when, and where to use it.

This thread is an extension of a very interesting thread started by "igotquestions" which was titled:
"GLANS ENGORGEMENT AFTER IMPLANT"

Here is my review based on personal experience with tri-mix gel:

WHY IS IT USED?:
Tri mix gel is used to help implanted patients who are complaining that their glans is unresponsive (ie, fails to engorge). Glans unresponsiveness was my complaint, and the trouble with my glans started a few months after using propecia. I spoke to my east coast surgeon about the glans trouble, and he stated that the options to improve glans engorgement after implant are to use "cock ring or cialis". I did not like either of those options (cock ring works amzingly well, but I think it looks weird; and cialis gives me back aches), so I asked if I could try the tri-mix gel. He stated that he has prescribed that gel, but no man has come back asking for refills, so he doubts that it works very well. He did offer to write a prescription for "muse", and when I tried to get that filled, the pharmacy stated that it is in on back order and they could not fill it (and insurance would not pay for it).
So, I went to my local, west coast urologic surgeon, and he was willing to write a prescription for me to try the trimix. Also, he said I must get off the propecia.

What is it ?:
trimix gel is similar to the trimix medicine that many of us used to inject before having an implant. However, since needles are an absolute no go with the implant, the medicine is instead inserted into the urethra. The mix that I have is: "alprostadil/phenotlamine/Lidocaine". My doctor sent the prescription to a compounding pharmacy on the west coast (the same firm that also made quad mix for me)
How do you use it ?":
it comes in a big syringe from which you can load small 1 ml syringes with. (NO NEEDLES). The big syringe has five doses, and needs to be refrigerated. You take the little 1 ml syringe and squirt the gel into your urethra (only needs to be inserted 1/4 inch). The gel starts to work over a period of ten minutes and lasts roughly one hour.

When do I use it:
15 to 30 minutes before sex
Does it work ?:
sort of. For me, when I use the 0.5 ml dose, I notice that I get a weak erection (basically a semi chub) which involves both the cavernosa and the glans spongiosa. I thought that was really cool because it was a natural erection on top of my implant. HOWEVER, it is not an erection adequate for good sex and it will impress no woman (though it did impress me since it felt like that neat feeling of having an erection). Because the flacid titan cylinders are a little bit stiff anyway, I think I could have sex with a woman using that semi-chub erection, but I would never ever do that since I have the capability to get hard by pumping up.
IMPORTANTLY, it does give a nice big glans, so a woman giving you a blow job will be impressed, and the erect glans does make it impossible for her to feel, with her mouth, the tips of the implant (though I doubt that is something a newbie woman will be able to figure out). Having the partially erect glans, I think , is exciting for a woman, but it is icing on the cake, and in my opinion, not the end-all be-all (the end-all, I think, is that rock hard shaft)

Do you become resistant over time ?:
Yes, just like getting resistant to tri mix injection, this will eventually quit working. And if, like me, you became very resistant to trimic needles before implant, then it is likely that the trimixgel into your urthra will not have a super effect. I suspect that if you have never used trimix, then the effect maybe could be quite good ?

Cost:
For me , not covered by insurance, so it is something like 20 dollars per application (I get a 100 dollar supply from the compunding pharmacy); so it is a similar price point to injection treatment.

MY FINAL VERDICT
regarding the Necessity and efficacy of tri-mix gel :
"meeh".

It is true that it is nice to feel that natural chub erection, but the main event from both the man and woman perspective is that glorious rock hard shaft pulsing in and out of a wet vagina with stretch and massage to the clit. That will bring a woman to orgasm, and although the firm glans is a nice add on, it is perhaps only 15% of the whole package.

So, I think it is too neurotic to perseverate on the adequacy of the glans erection. I think it is better to just "give the girl what you got" and assume she will adjust to that and learn to love your dick with just the rock hard pumped up implant support. It is, in my opinion, too neurotic to get the trimix gel so that you are "perfect" The cost is significant, the timing is tricky (use it 15 to thirty minutes before sex), woman can taste it is she blows you with no condom, and you have "stuff to haul around with you" which can hinder spontaneity.

In other words, love the one you are with, and get her to love the penis she is with. Really, a bionic male has such amzing bedroom capabilities, so, the trimix gel for glans , I think , really is not needed.

One other point,

Since using the trimix gel, my natural engorgement instances are better and more frequent.
Many have wondered if you ever get a natural erection after implant, and in general, the answer is no. The reason is that if you get natural erection, you likely do not need an implant, so those men who end up with an implant generally have such severe ED that there is nothing left to get engorged. That would be the case with me before implant -- my dick was a worthless non-responsive noodle. The implant, of course, fixed the issue and I now can have wonderful sex. As a side effect of the tri-mix gel, there is some minor kick starting of my natural erectile ability, THOUGH, those erections are something that are subtle, and a thing that I enjoy noticing, but which would likely be barely detectable by a woman having sex with you.

That being said, it is a nice "side effect" of using tri-mix. This improved responsiveness seems to last maybe 4 days after using the tri-mix. Those of you who like to feel a little bulge down there when feeling horny might like this side effect.

To me it was a big pain to get a prescription and get it filled, it was expensive and really did not do much. My experience only.

I wonder if it would cause pain like the trimix injectable.

It does seem like it's a lot of hassle, but if it works then that's great. It could be great for guys on a first time with a girl.
I think that's what I would do. That way everything is normal for the first few occassions, then you could use a ring when she is less likely to negatively judge you for needing assistance...
You could also use it rather than a ring if insemination is the goal that night, less obstructive than the ring. I'm not joking, why not?
It's worth thinking about anyway. It's great to get into the problem solving hopeful mindset.

You're a star as ever, Tangerine. Thank you!
