A list of great implant doctors and their cost

Postby PeaceofPain07 » Sun Jul 12, 2020 1:52 pm

Hi all,
As someone with decent job/savings but with bad insurance, I was wondering how to shop for the best penile implant doctor at a good price as a self-pay patient. I know of only 1 good doctor here near New York City, and he'd charge self-pay patients about $30000 total to do it. Keep in mind when you list prices, to mention if any of it was covered by insurance. For those with good insurance who don't have to pay, it's common for some docs to charge even more to get as much as they can out of insurance.

Implants last about 10 yrs on average, so $30000 is a heavy cost to pay every 10 or so yrs. I'm willing to travel to get the better prices that can be obtained in lower cost of living areas, but I would only consider doctors with a high success rate with implants that can be verified. Do you think it's wise to travel for a good implant doctor at a better cost?

Please share doctors with high success rates on implants, that would charge self-pay patients under about $20000 (preferably with credentials/reviews available). I'll do my homework on all the doctors listed. If I find a good doctor somewhere else that charges less than $20000, depending on how far, I might go with them instead of doing it locally.

Please focus on answering the question above, as I have a separate thread that shares my history if you wish to discuss that. I think it would be good for everyone to have such a list available here, instead of having it just be about me.

This topic comes up multiple times, there are several threads about docs and their published costs if you search back through previous threads

Hi Oregon,
You're saying there is a thread where it's listed all in one post, or it's all over the place in multiple posts? If in one place, please share where. I find it useful for people to have it all gathered in one place.

I tried to a similar idea for gathering bimix/trimix costs from multiple pharmacies. I shared all the costs I gathered, but I abandoned updating it as injections weren't for me:

Same idea, different service.

yes, we talk about this a lot, but pricing differs depending on if you have insurance, if you are a revision, if the doctor takes a particular liking to you (and thus gives an unusually heavy discount out of compassion) and depending on how busy the doctors are (ie, supply and demand market forces).

Some numbers were discussed int he following thread:

I tried to provide a list at this thread:

I suspect that you won't get very much in the way of a personalised reply to your question. I bet we've hashed this around several times in the 2 years that I've been a member. Your biggest problem will be that prices change, frequently. For a list to even be remotely accurate. A guy would have to of called every surgeon on the list in the last few months. Just not going to happen. Then you'll get guys posting what their insurance was charged which is totally fake. Search my post history to find out why I say insurance prices are fake.
Then some doctors won't quote a price that includes the implant. That alone will make his price in the neighborhood of $8k too low.
The best that I can tell you is that there is several very good surgeons that charge around $19k for the surgery, implant & the surgery centers fee. Any that quote much cheaper are likely leaving something out of the quote.
Make a list of a couple of surgeons that seem acceptable to you. Then call their billing department for a estimate.

This is a tough one. Neither of the docs I used would even quote a self pay. I asked. Hospital cost is the big one. They are reluctant to specify a total price. My hospital bill for the titan was around 70000, the lgx over 150,000. My cost was a minuscule amount of that.

A lot of self pay docs have private arrangements with surgical facilities for cost savings. Be aware if something goes wrong that self pay amount could go up. In my case due to complications in removing the deflated reservoir I was in surgery over 3 hours. What should have been an hour or so went up as did the bill. For a firm self pay quote there probably only a handful of docs you will consult. From my mind to give you a start is eid, kramer, perito. Not sure about the doc in Chicago or karpman. I did see a list somewhere of docs who would do self pay. It was short. Not sure what site it was on. Someone like you actually talked to a lot of docs by phone and compiled it. The common theme though was most would not quote a price without seeing you or being a patient.

Good luck.

If you look in my post history, I posted a list with around 15-20 out of pocket cost doctors.

I think Karpman is quoted as being in the 19-19.5k range. He verbally told me that his self pay was very competitive. Whatever that means.

Thanks. I guess it's a difficult thing to obtain rough costs for high volume/recommended doctors all in one list
