Non- salvageable infection rate

Interested to hear from anyone who has been in the unfortunate position of having an infection that resulted in a non salvageable outcome ? I have looked at the statistics but obviously they don’t always give the full story. It would be interesting to hear someone who has actually been in this positions experiences and how they have dealt with this ?
