Coloplast Genesis Malleable

Postby dcmusc » Thu Jun 18, 2020 8:51 am

Anyone have experience with this? After two pump failures, looking at getting away from the plumbing. I'm a 6.5 x 6 guy, is this something that works?

Check with Agfa13.

It turned out that he had this one if I understood his post once he got his surgical notes. He thought he had the AMS Tactra but I believe he stated that his notes said that the doctor doing his last revision removed a Coloplast Genesis.

Yes, it works:)
Yep, have experience with it. As Waynetho said, when I got my notes, I just checked all of my surgeries.
I started with an AMS 3 piece, then the Coloplast Genesis, now have the Coloplast Legacy (I call it that because this really is manual on the pump and one of the earlier models).
Back to talking about the malleable. When Dr. Kramer put this in, he had little to work with, as in my dick. My problem was stowage. I would have stopped with this, but the stowage issue was a big issue!
Drs. recommend it for people with dexterity issues. You put it up to use it, push it down to stow it away. One length, nothing to manipulate like the 3 piece.

Personally, I would not recommend Tactra or the Genesis, since they only allow 90 degrees stowage You need that extra 'tucking in'. If you are hung, as in over 6", you should be good, but I do not recommend these malleables either way.
I recommend the Rigicon. You have a lifetime guarantee AND the 135 degrees to stow away your monster:)
Disclaimer: I am not a Dr., but someone who JUST went through procedure earlier this year!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm interested in this prosthesis as well.

I wonder if these malleables set off airport's metal detectors.

Not the malleables. They are only rods made with tuff plastic.
As for the 3-piece, my Coloplast came with a warning when getting an MRI because it has metal in it.

The only concern with MRI is that they keep the imager to 3 gauss (I think) or lower and the radiologist needs to be aware of its presence because it can cause shadows on the image. Same holds true for the UroLift implants I got in my prostate. They're basically small sections of monofilament (fishing line) with one Nitinol memory metal and one surgical stainless anchors. I have four UroLift implants and they have hands-down much more metal than the pump does on the AMS MS pump (and probably anything made by Coloplast as well).

Do I have to tell TSA when I travel? Will is set off the alarm?

The tiny spring in the MS pump (not sure about Coloplast pumps) is so small that it won't set off TSA metal detectors. Even the shadow it casts on medical scans is quite small but might cause concern if the radiologist isn't aware of the implant when assessing the scans. From what I've seen in CT and MRI scan images on the Internet though, the faint outline of the implant should be visible to a skilled technician's eye.

I have never told any scanner operator, nor been questioned. If they ever ask, I will probably say I have a medical implant. If pressed for any more details I would evaluate the situation before giving any more details. Possible responses range from citing HIPPA's privacy requirements to revealing the full set of details and every option in between.

Whew! Thanks for the idea...
I have a Titanium screw in my knee, never bothered to ask about that until I was actually traveling. Shortly after that, I got an MRI for something else, and I mentioned that because the tech mentioned and asked if I had any screws in body.
