5 Months since Implant with issues

Postby raya62 » Tue Apr 28, 2020 3:50 pm

Long time reader and lurker but this is my first post.
Diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2016 at 56. Failed the immunotherapy and had to have my bladder and prostate removed in August 2017.
Had nerve sparing surgery at Memorial Sloane Kettering in New York and it appeared it worked as there were signs of life one month later.
Cancer found to spread to local lymph nodes so radiation was prescribed and all signs of life ceased afterwards.
Tried Viagra, injections and vacuum pumps and all were with limited success. I also developed Peyronie's disease along the way.
After much reading on this site I had an implant operation on 12-11-19 at Memorial Sloane in New York by Dr Mulhall.
It's been a tough road. I am nearly 5 months post operation and I am still at 3:00 all of the time. Last follow up visit was January and I was scheduled for another follow up early April but New York is off limits during the COVID19 epidemic as I am from Delaware.
Dr Mulhall said the implant would soften and I would have a normal "hang" in a month or two but there has been no change since January 2020.
It pumps up fine and I release while squeezing simultaneously so I know I'm fully deflated as I can feel the bags crinkle inside me.
I also still maintain a sharp upward curve when deflated.
I have the Titan Classic (not the one touch) have to squeeze the bars at the base of the pump and squeeze penis to deflate then give on pump to set check valve.
Don't expect much to change at this point but it felt good to vent!
Any words of wisdom appreciated.
Thanks

As to the upward curve, ask your urologist/surgeon on your next checkup (or reach out by email or text message or whatever) and ask if you can do any modeling of the curve to help stretch it and reduce the angle. I did my own modeling of a 30 degree upward curve in the middle of mine (about 1-1.5" behind the glans corona) and after a week to 10 days, it was gone. It only cost me a little soreness after each modeling session, during the next day or two.

EDIT:
Sorry, just re-read the OP. You say the curve is present when DEFLATED. Do you have the curve when inflated? If not, it may just take a little while of regular cycling. I was told by my doctor, 3 times a day for 2 weeks - I've still been cycling every day at least once, maxing out the pressure while cycling, when I can.

The more I cycled, the more things "took shape" the way I expected them to be. The folds may always be there to some degree when deflated but if you still have folds when inflated, you may have been slightly oversized and more cycling may stretch things out enough to accommodate the extra length of the implant. You may notice continued increase in length as long as the folds are present while cycling.

It's OK to vent here!
You're about a month behind me, I'm almost 6 months out. No curve in my penis, but it did hang pretty stiff until just recently. Now when I deflate it feels more like my old flaccid state, but looking at it there is still way more length and girth then the days of old. That may partly be due to healing because rubbing in my underwear used to make my penis feel like it was rubbed raw.

I am also implanted with Titan 20 months ago and still have problems with semi erections constantly. It is a bit softer but no change in flaccid angle which at its best is 45 degrees or 4:30. It always make bulge in my scrubs which makes me feel uncomfortable.
My flaccid hang is nothing close to flaccid.
Honestly, I hate it.

Thanks. I forgot to mention I lost a solid 2" between the bladder/prostate removal and the implant.
The curve is the same soft or pumped up.
No flexibility or crinkle when pumped up. Works good but still heavily curved. Wife doesn't like it. Almost sorry I did it as wife is not thrilled.

Then I would recommend talking to your doctor about possibility of modeling (sometimes called "remodeling") your penis curve. If the doctor feels that it is okay to do so, here's what I did: I pumped to about 80%, firm but not painful. Then I bent against the curve, at about the same angle in the opposite direction. So with 30 degrees up, I bent it between straight and 30 degrees down (whatever I could do semi-comfortably). It will have a mildly painful, stretching sensation in the inner curve. I remodeled my curve every time I had my penis in my hands. When I went to the restroom at work, I would go into the stall and cycle. While pumped up, I would bend against the curve and hold it that way for about 60 seconds.

It took me only about a week to remove most of a 30 degree curve but I was sore most of the time where the stretching took place. Afterward, I would remodel every few days to once every week until I was satisfied it was remaining straight. I still do a little bit of a right-hand remodeling because my "Dress-Left" and down stowage tends to make it veer left when deflated.

Thanks. I will try modeling as I have no idea when I may see the Dr again under the current circumstances. I forgot to mention that I am still 90% numb on the underside of my penis and a good portion of my scrotum. It hasn't gotten any better in the 5 months since surgery. Thanks for the replies.
