Eureka - My suspicions confirmed!

Postby NJ Fred » Wed Apr 08, 2020 1:51 pm

I have been experiencing continuing pain/discomfort since my AMS 700 was implanted on January 29, 2020. The job was done by Dr. Edward Becker of Palm Beach Urology in Wellington, Florida. I say again - Ed Becker is tops in my book. I endorse him wholeheartedly.

We are at our New Jersey residence. I did fly down to see Ed just about five weeks ago due to the ongoing pain. At that time, there was no basis to conclude the AMS contraption was malfunctioning. In fact, Dr. Becker inflated/deflated with no difficulty. I got back on the plane to Atlantic City the very next day a happy man.

Not quite! The pain persisted and, a day or so later, I came to believe that I was partly inflated - - despite the fact I had not pimped, whatsoever. I made another appointment with Ed, had the airline booked and then COVID-19 kicked things in the nuts with travel restrictions.

Ed urged me to see a local Urologist. I also reached out to Doctors Kramer and Eid. Both got back to me on a timely basis (and I thank them). But office visits were not available.

I searched high and low in Jersey. Two practices refused to see me since they hadn't done the surgery. Then Lady Luck smiled. I just returned from seeing Dr. Tom Mueller of NJ Urology at their Sewell, NJ office. Low and behold, Dr. Mueller found I was partially inflated/ Hence, my ongoing pain - - hell, I was walking around with a half a hard-on for weeks! He did not feel my diabetes was relevant in re the instant probleme; although he acknowledged the prolonged healing (internally) was influenced.

He deflated me. At the same time, he hypothesized that the valve on the device might be defective. He told me not to touch it and return to his office this coming Monday, April 13th. If, at that time, there is involuntary inflation, we will discuss a revision for obvious reasons.

The peace of mind I now have is soothing. I was truly on the edge of my chair thinking I had made a bad thing worse by having the implant. I always close by thanking my Bionic Brotherhood for your patience, wisdom and counsel.

I have never meant that more than I mean it right now. You guys are super and this Board is a true public service.

I'll keep you posted. Happy Holidays to All.

I am sorry you have had to go through what you have, but happy you have figured out the cause of the pain and can hopefully get the help you need.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Sorry to hear about the pain too, but not sure I understand where it is cumming from.
Is implant partially inflating on its own? Is that why you were OK after the Dr. visit, but then started experiencing pain?
Glad Dr. Mueller knew how implants work and what to do. So, did he cycle you after deflating on your visit?

When mine was newer, I was convinced I needed to make one quick pump and feel the (pop) to reset the valve. In that valve position you have to physically pump the bulb to move the fluid. Now I just squeeze it till I feel the fluid (buzzing) out.
If you follow my posts back to the beginning, I had peyronies and the surgeon pumped me up to 80-90 % on day 2 and told me not to touch it for 4 weeks. I had pain. Not in the 1-10 scale, but give me a gun to shoot myself with. Thank god I had a bunch of drugs from a past back surgery. Who would ever think staying erect would be painful.
Glad you found the cause. That release button can be tricky till it gets used a little.

Agfa - - yes. It does, in fact, partially inflate on its own. Proof-being that Dr. Mueller cycled it at 11:15am (fully deflated when I left his office). At 4:15pm I was hard again. I had not, per his instructions, touched the device all day.

Monday will be the kicker. I am checking the device every few hours and keeping a log.

While I am not eager to be carved upon again (and who knows when given the elective surgery prohibitions), it seems this is a distinct probability. There is no way to "service" the valve externally, I am told.

My spirits were boosted by yesterday's consultation.

Oldbeek,

I am just about to exhaust the supply of "Tramadol" that Dr. Becker prescribed post surgery. I have been relying on over the counter meds.

Dr. Mueller opined that my pain was due, in great part, to my walking around partially erect for hours at a time. His theory was fortified when I told him I got mostly restful nights sleep. He feels this is because I sleep on my back and that facilitates the saline flowing back into the reservoir.

The kicker was my ability to ejaculate (via manual means, fellatio, et al.). Given I did not/could not pump it up, the amount of erection needed to accomplish orgasm had to come from somewhere - - the auto inflation.

Hope you are well, sir.

Oldbeek, believe me, this joke about walking around for 4 hours with a hard-on and that you could fuck is funny...until it happens to you and you find out that walking around with a hard-on, esp. after you shot your load, is NOT funny. On top of that, you could care less about anything sexual.
When I was on Trimix, if felt great! Great response, cock was hard has stone. Felt really good about being able to fuck again.
After I shot my load and it would not go down...it hurt like hell! You would try to put on clothes to go out, even informal, and it was not comfortable.

Forgot the name of the prescription, but as an alternate, would take 3 or 4 pills of OTC Sudafed.

Edit: Terbutalane (Sudafed)

Fred, in case you haven't figured it out yet, orgasm is not erection dependent. When I was still deflated while waiting the 2-weeks before activation, I was still able to have an orgasm (no erection). I still sometimes work one out without inflation. Before surgery, for several years I was able to get to orgasm by beating my "floppy wet noodle".

The three male components of sex are independent of each other:

  • erection
  • orgasm
  • ejaculation
