Five months and still sore

Hello everyone, I had my penile implant done last November, a Coloplast OTR. The first few weeks were terrible to the point I had to ask the doc for stronger meds. The next couple of months were filled with soreness, pain and a sunburn feeling all along my shaft. Every time I would inflate the sunburn feeling came back for three or four days. I've had issues taking anti-biotics and wonder if that sunburn feeling was caused by the fact that the implant has anti-biotic impregnated on it. Needless to say I haven't inflated as often as I should have. My other issues are the pump itself, it gets squeezed between my testicles while I sleep and makes me sore. Where the incision was is still sore too.
I've read a couple of posts here where some guys say within a few weeks they were good. I'm jealous! I still have some bruising at the base of my shaft after almost 5 months. Did I pick a bad doc? Any comments welcome.

We sail in the same ship. Mine (AMS 700) was done January 29th. I am experiencing the very same symptoms.

MD opines it will improve with time.

NJ Fred, while I was having the worst sunburn feeling I used a little kids sock to cover myself. Also found Aspercream is wonderful stuff, reduces that sunburn feeling and lasts all day.

Any underlying medical issues like diabetes that will affect healing? Also from what I hear the surgeon you choose is the key to success. Can I ask who you used?

I 2nd the above comment.
We all heal differently. I, too, am extremely jealous, and I came down with an infection, and I am otherwise healthy.
Read up on FT, see any other issues that others may have had.
The mantra I usually say is patience, patience, patience, but in your case, after 5 months, I wonder, but at the same time, if there are any underlying issues.
Are you in constant contact with your Dr.?
IMHO, if this pain is the same as it was back then, something is not right, but if this pain is something that developed, welcum to the club, you are healing (just in a different way)!

Im thinking that if the surgeons told everyone the whole truth about recovery time, nobody would do it. I get it that too much information can inhibit one sometimes.

I had mine on Oct 31, 2019 and I'm still a bit sore in the area where the tubes enter the pump block.

Penetration was not possible until very recently. It is still uncomfortable, sometimes moderately painful.

My point is that these 4 week recovery guys are lucky and rare. I'm convinced that a full year is needed to completely
heal from most highly invasive surgeries.

I agree with you about still being sore after 5 months (3 days before you), and it's still the tubing for me as well. In mine though, it's where they come out of the corporotomies and have been growing into the tissues around the penis under the skin.

I haven't however had the challenges you've had with pain during penetration. I was able to penetrate with very little discomfort by the sixth week when I was cleared for sex.

About two hours ago (via his website), I emailed Dr. Eid explaining how I currently feel "south of the border" and the history relevant to my implant. I was careful to advise him of my diabetes, average morning blood glucose and meds I take daily.

God Bless that man! Below please see the response I just received:

Thank you for your email.
I recommend doing hot baths, 30 min each, twice per day to reduce the inflammation. If possible I recommend waiting until the COVID situation has resolved before scheduling a consultation. We are currently closed.
Sincerely,

J. François Eid, M.D.
Director
Advanced Urological Care, PC

My first hot bath happens after my 11am teleconference. My fingers are crossed. I will keep my Bionic Brothers posted.

Please - - everyone stay safe and stay well in this day of COVID-19.

Thanks for all your comments. Yes we do all heal differently, and I agree if the docs told you how long recovery could be many may not have an implant done. I am not diabetic, take no daily pills. Generally healthy but I do smoke.
I did find hot baths sure felt good every morning for a while. Still take one every other day or so now. And Aspercream rub works great to reduce soreness.
At 6 weeks post doc cleared me to have sex, those first couple of times made me hurt for 2-3 days. Glad that is done. At this point I find penetration is possible with little pain or soreness afterward. I did get a mild pain mid-shaft last time though when wife had an orgasm and squeezed me. That was new and different. Kind of felt like the tube was getting bent on the right side.
I am jealous of those who heal so quickly. If I remember on Dr. Eid's site there is a patient who was six weeks post, showed no bruising and was already inflating fully, and he had quite the large penis.

Did hot bath #1 at 3:30pm EST. STayed in for 30 min per Dr. Eid. Did give me some relief from the lower tesitlce and penis head discomforts.

To be continued...
