Just how painful should cycling be?

I was recently implanted and just began cycling twice a day for 15-30 minutes at a time. From what I have read, cycling is imperative to regaining lost length. I have seen where guys talk about the stretching feeling when pumped to the max and the pain they experience. I am pumping until I can't pump anymore and have yet to experience any real pain. I feel a little bit of irritation, I know it inflated, but not the unbearable pain I've seen some speak of. I'm wondering if I was undersized, or if I'm just being impatient. I have to be honest, the loss of length has me worried; that fear is what kept me from getting the implant initially. Should I be worried or am I just expecting too much too fast?

I have had my implant for 2.5 years. I began cycling as soon as my surgeon said it was OK. At that point I was still recovering from the surgery so I had some soreness, tenderness, or whatever you want to call it. I would pump until the bulb would not allow more, wait a few minutes and try again. Throughout that process I never felt pain. I would call my experience discomfort, but it was very tolerable. Within a little over a year I regained all of my lost length.
I have had gallstones and herniated disks in my back and from what doctors and nurses have shared with me those are unbearable. For me they were horrible so I figured the pain from cycling was far less than what I had dealt with during those other issues so I was not affected in the way many guys are.
Many also complain about the pain following the actual implant surgery and again I was relatively pain free, not needing the pain pills I was prescribed.

Lack of pain probably isn't the best way to determine if the implant is undersized. When you are inflated to the max is the glans supported and not floppy? Do the cylinder tips fit into the glans or do they end short of the glans? Search for some pictures here of guys with floppy glans who are able to fold the end of the penis over, that would be a sign of undersized.

I had lots of pain as my Dr kept me 80-90% inflated for 4 weeks. I came out of healing with my full pre implant length. Sadly not girth. If I pump full almost 2 yrs later, I will have unbearable pain within 15 minutes. Sometimes have to stop intercourse to relieve the pressure.

Pain is not a fixed sympthom. There are people like me who suffer much pain if pumped to max, other don't. Pain is relative to every person, there is no meaning more than really high pain can be sign of damage. So if you feel so much pain you cannot bear it, be more conservative because you could damage yourself. if you don't feel any pain at all, pump as much as your strength allows. Penis will strech with or without pain.
If your glans is firm when inflated, you are not undersized.

I had/have zero pain inflated and no lost length.
Maybe that's a perfect sizing?

I would not worry about undersizing unless your glans is not supported well (the defining characteristic of floppy glans, I think). The tips of my implant go a little more than half-way into my glans, the same as my tunica did before implant. That (to my mind) would be the appropriate measure. If your tunica still supports your glans as well after implant as it did before E.D. The implant really cannot go into your glans further than your tunica does.
Is your surgeon the same D.K. Montague who published this paper with K.W. Angermeier?

(Note that the paper was written 17 years ago and his protocol probably has changed since then.)
Of course, it could be a different surgeon with the same name.

Yes, this is the same Surgeon. I think I do not have floppy glans, however I can bend the tip little when inflated, so maybe I do. I think I am just in the "wtf did I do stage", and just need to be patient. It's only been 7 weeks since implantation. I'll take a deep breath and have a better idea as to what's going on in a 6 months to a year.

I had pain while cycling for about 6 months after being implanted.
I only cycled once a day from the start. 1st month was extremely painful and started with 20 min then gradually increased the time until i could push an hour ( All at 100 % inflation )
After about six months using the same routine the pain was slight and i kept it inflated for two or three hours during sexual activity.
My original length was back after 18 months and i have more girth than before.
I have and will always pump to 100% and generally keep it pumped for two or three hours during sex - sometimes no pain at all, sometimes a very little.
