Under the knife, again..

Postby gregorbehr » Tue Feb 04, 2020 5:28 pm

After 5 years of my implant, I'm going under the knife this Friday for a biopsy.
A CT and PET scan both lit up like Christmas trees showing some sort of mass pushing up against the implant reservoir. When I pump up and deflate, I definitely have discomfort when the reservoir expands back up and presses against the mystery mass.
I'm hoping it's just an abscess that can be drained and I spend the weekend in the hospital on antibiotics.
My fear is that it's a honking huge ass tumor and it's cancer... blah blah blah.
I'd settle for just a herniated bit of intestine that needs a proper surgery to repair. Heck, I'm even willing to lose the reservoir and deal with a 3rd implant down the road if it meant avoiding the Big C!

I'm stressed the hell out! In pain as my abdomen is achy and whatever the mass is, it's pressing on nerves and it feels like a knife is constantly being stabbed into my left thigh!
I'm popping oxycodone like tic-tacs, because as a former fentanyl addict, oxy really doesn't do much to my rewired brain and its notion of what pain is and how to control it.

The husband is out of the country until the 14th. Roommates leave on the 6th for 9 days, which means I'm flying solo with just 3 cats to hang out with. I'll have to rely upon extended circles of friends for any help... Good thing I don't care who knows that I have a penile implant, so I don't have to lie as to why I may need help.
But thank goodness for food delivery services, Netflix and Amazon Prime delivery.

OK, pity party over... just hoping for some good thoughts this Friday.

2 TURP surgeries caused Peyronie's. 1st implant lost to infection, 2nd one is about 5 years old. But "floppy head" due to all the scar tissue, couldn't get tips all the way up.

Wish you the very best on outcome and just stay positive. I had recurring lung cancer last March and underwent a robotic lobectomy in April. My main concern was not to damage my working implant with a catheter and we laughed about it but was assured they would be careful. Blessed and doing fine now doctors all say I’m a tough ol bird.

Lester, I guess you know now, Foley catheters aren't likely to damage the implant... It would have to go terribly wrong to get one to damage the other... (I say this because I've self-cathed with a Foley catheter both a couple of months before I was implanted and about 2.5 months after).

I had a pain like that 4 months after IPP. Ended up it was a ilengual hernia. CT did not show the reservoir position.
