Retired Army guy here.

4 weeks ahead of you. Today was day 28.

Had a civilian doc in Austin do mine. Tricare.

So far so good. It’s not an instant process. I’m not a real patient guy even though I was the only guy in my Command&General Staff College class with a type-B personality. But with this, patience is a virtue.

No infection. No real pain. Soreness-swelling-bruising? Oh hell yes. Expect it.

Two days after surgery I drove myself to Austin to have drain taken out and let surgeon admire his work. Wife was in Louisiana seeing family during procedure and about 10 days of recovery. We had discussed doing it, agreed to get it done, I just didn’t tell her when. Truthfully, I didn’t want to mess up her planned trip. So you aren’t incapacitated....you can cook, wash clothes, rest, deal with a 8 month old border collie pup, go to the store etc immediately.

So good luck and best wishes on the procedure. It’s not as easy as a vasectomy but it’s not any worse than my rotator cuff surgery....which wasn’t bad except for having to be in a sling.

Considering what they’re doing to you, you’re going to be amazed at how quick it is and how little you hurt. Oh I did have some pain. They catheterized me during surgery and it hurt to piss for two days. Only pain I swear it.

12 hours post op and hoping this is not too incoherent. Surgery took ~2 1/2 hours. Went a little longer due to a Ventral Phalloplasty removing some excess scrotal skin that had bothered me my whole life. Doc said surgery went perfect, no issues or challenges once she opened me up. When I woke up in recovery my wife was there and that made me smile. She has been so supportive throughout this life changing decision. Pain was not too bad but of course I was still pumping meds from the surgery. Biggest challenge was/is the catheter. When I had my RP I had to leave it in longer than usual. When it was put I could not pee and the pain was excruciating so the left it in to let things settle down which it eventually did. Once settled and within an hour I got up and took a couple of laps around the hospital carrying that damn catheter bag  Was able to keep drinking a lot fluids so they took me off the IV bag. had a small lunch and an oxy and the pain was minimal. Dozed off and on most of the day and the pain gradually got worse (7 out of 10). The nurse gave me another oxy but on an empty stomach and within 15 minutes was "ralphing". I did not think about not taking it on an empty stomach but clearly the RN should have known. Hooked me back up to the IV bag to push pain and anti nausea meds and began to feel better immediately. Was not really hungry for dinner but knew I needed to eat so had plain turkey breast, a scoop of mashed potatoes and a fruit cup. Doc came by and I'm now resting and decided to try and send my SITREP.

So.......... She implanted a 22 cm Titan with 4 cm RTP on one side and 2 1/2 on the other. I asked about the discrepancy and she said it's just my anatomy. So using my redneck, deplorable, MAGA loving self math skills deduced I "should" be 18 cm in length. She said not necessarily so. My most recent full erection length when I took the Edex was just a shy under 7" and my pre procedure stretch tests over the last couple of days reflect the same measurement. She did not measure it erect after the surgery but told me not expect 18 cm, more like 15 cm's. I'm hoping it was/is under promise and over deliver on her part. I know, I know patience. Not one of my virtues but to say I was not disappointed would be untruthful. Gotta work now on accepting the size outcome for what it is and remember I was a limp noodle before and would rather have a 6" hard functioning cock than a stretched out 7" limp biscuit. Just buzzed the nurse again so I can take my evening lap around the floor and flash all the nurses with my wide open in back gown.

So thats my story and I'm sticking to it. I get out tomorrow morning sometime and will post sometime tomorrow on my progress.

Glad to see you are still among the living.

Sounds like you had an interesting day.

I am just sitting here dumbfounded by the differences in treatment yet we all seem to end up at the same place, outcome-wise. i had a 6 am report time, was first in the chute......and was awake a bit after 10. By noon I was in the truck headed to get a Popeye's chicken sandwich. At 2 I had gone in to WalMart to pick up my pain drugs which I ended up not needing. Finally got a nap then woke up to watch a bowl game on TV.

Jeff just told ya he was two weeks ahead of you....well I'm two weeks ahead of him. Sounds like you are being wwell taken care of except for food. I was hospitalized once at Brooke Army.....like 30 years ago. The food stunk then, too. There are lots of guys on here with more experience than us but the experience is still pretty fresh and vivid in our minds. So holler if we can beof service.

Wishing you continued good luck and speedy recovery//GF dba txagq8

Live with what you are delt.

I did Proton Radiation Jan-Apr 2006. the treatment was painless. I've had 14 years of no pain and increasing ED along the years. If I had gone the Surgery route, I'd have fucked for 14 years with a hard cock and just had a revision to a "new" hard dick.

Different choices and we're both in the same place. True, I've had 14 years of a natural flaccid.... Thanks for nothing.

. Thanks for that reply. I feel better now. Lots of guys that have protons say they don't have ED. Been kicking my self for being rushed into surgery.

Day 1 post op. Restless night but pain was not that bad. Woke up, took a walk and had a nice breakfast. Nurse came in and took the catheter out and that significantly reduced my pain. Was able to pee on my own shortly after but I am partially inflated and it is a challenge. The piss bottle they gave me helped. Got one last antibiotic IV and began the checkout procedure. Wife was there at 1030 and we walked out @ 1100. Came home and took a comfortable (in my own bed) nap then got up and had a light lunch. Went for a walk down the block with my wife and that was pretty uncomfortable but felt good to be outside getting fresh air. Finally had a bowel movement albeit watery and runny but relieved the bloating in my intestines. One thing that I am concerned about is when I was sitting on the toilet my wrap came off and I had an upclose first real look at my new penis. It is curved and looks like someone with Peyronies. I have always had a fairly straight penis so this is troubling .

Anyone have anything like this. Is it normal? Am I being too impatient for just over 24 hours out?

I am curious as to where you had the proton rad? I was contemplating it at that same time but went for the surgery

From your pic, it looks like one cylinder is pumped more than the other. I would call the Dr.

96 hours post op. So far so good. My biggest concern about the curvature in my penis was put to rest by my doc when she replied in an email that it is not unusual when initially only partial inflated to not be perfectly straight. She assured me that she inflated it twice in surgery and it was perfectly straight. I have been taking Motrin, Tylenol and Ducalax (stool softener). Swelling is still present and now getting discoloring in my scrotum. Am able to palpate and identify the pump and release valve and seems to be in an easily accessible position low in my scrotum. Was pleased to feel the cylinders well into the glans of my penis. Icing with frozen peas several times a day while relaxing in a recliner. Wearing tighty whitey underwear with my penis pointed up and against my abdomen. Being 50% inflated its not exactly the most comfortable position and most of the pain is from the tip of my penis. Put on a jock strap over my underwear and went for a two mile walk this morning and other than the throbbing in the head of my penis felt OK. Worst event was when my 18 month old grandson sitting next to me on the recliner reached over and grabbed the head of my penis. Was all I could do to not cry in front of the little guy.

I'll post again in a few days unless something changes significantly.

Continued thanks for the feedback/advice and story sharing from. all of you.
