Implant Surgery My Journey Day Nine!

Postby notaes » Sat Jan 18, 2020 10:29 am

Well Guys this is day nine of my penile implant journey. Slept much better last night for which I am thankful. Its hard to believe what missing one nights sleep does to our bodies.
My wife, who has been a nurse for the last 40 years, commented this morning on how well I have done. She said "Honey, I am so happy that you have done so well." With which I commented back,"Thank you Honey...I too am so thankful that I have done so well." It is hard to believe that this kind of surgery can be done and have no more pain than what I have experienced! I have had almost ZERO pain! Maybe a twitch here and there but no gut wrinching pain! To those of you who are getting close to the time you are to have this surgery, STOP WORRYING! I wasted so much time thinking what if this and what if that to experience almost NO PAIN! Yes, It is crazy but it's true. I think they have this surgery so perfected that a buddy of mine had this surgery just a few days after I had mine and they did not even put him to sleep. He just had an epidural which the best I understand it is kind of like a nerve block.
Most of my swelling is almost gone. My pubic area is almost clear of bruising. All my bruising is now in my penis and scrotum. My wife explained to me that healing would take place from the top down and that is exactly what has happened with me. Its like gravity. Something I have noticed the last two nights is I have awakened around 2am and had no pain but notice my scrotum felt like it had swollen during the night. I sleep with an electric blanket and whether that has contributed to it or not I don't know. My wife, the nurse says no! I ask her the first night if she thought sleeping under my electric blanket would cause me any problems and she said no. I take her advice most of the time. Anyway, I got up and got my ice bag and put it on my scrotum for about and hour and went back to bed. Slept pretty well. Again, I did not have any discomfort just notice a little swelling. I cannot over stress the importance of using ice on your surgical area cautiously. Never put it on your incision just in and around where our swelling and bruising is located. Putting ice bags or cold freezer packs on your swelling or bruising will help keep in to a minimum and speed healing.
That is about it for day nine. I am sitting with ice packs in and around my penis and scrotum. I have done this same thing ever since I have been home and it has really paid off in that the swelling and bruising has gotten less and less everyday. It seems like it peaked and then started slowly going down. I hope this journal helps you guys that go through this surgery after me. That is my goal. The guys on this forum have been so good to me and have really helped me. They help me in making the decision to have an implant. They helped me gather my list of questions for my consult with the surgeon prior to my surgery. Anything they could do they have done to help me enter the bionic brotherhood of penile implant. So far I feel so good about my decision to have an implant. I just hope and pray everything continues to be as positive as my experience has proven to be thus far! I wish you all the best as I continue my implant journey.

GREAT progress report. I am the friend that had the nerve block. In reality I was given some meds to make me relax. I was awake when they rolled me out of the operating room. I was complete alert and aware of my surroundings. It will be a week on Monday that I had this done. No pain at all.

Congratulations, this is all great to hear. Sounds like you had a good doc and that you're doing the right things post-op and you clearly have a supportive, engaged partner. Stick with the plan and you'll be back in the saddle in no time! Really great to hear...

Keep doing what you're doing. We all heal at different rates. I managed some gentle self-love at day 18, and slow, slippery love making at day 25. Neither was pain free, but I was anxious. Doctor gave the official green light at 28 days and it gets better every day. Now at almost 4 months I barely notice I have an implant till my loving wife reaches over and starts fiddling with my triplets. Guess her need to catch up is stronger than mine. Ask me if I care? Nope! I know I can perform and the fun has returned for both of us. Life changing.
