Dr says LGX is junk

Postby Trchd1 » Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:32 pm

I saw my doctor today to discuss the implant surgery I'll be having here in about three weeks and during our discussion I asked him about the Ams LG X model that's when he told me it is absolute junk he told me that he has tried to tell the Reps that they need to quit advertising it he said that it does not get as hard as the CX model and he didn't recommend it at all

Heck, even my AMS Patient Liaison says the CX is stiffer than the LGX (and he has a CX).

I have an LGX and it is as rigid or more rigid than my best teenaged erections ever were. So, how much excess does one need?

"Some is good,
More is better,
Too much is just enough"

So, what does he say about the Coloplast Titan? It is arguably stiffer than either AMS device. From what I have read, all are capable of being stiffer than desirable for sex.

Does he have specific experiences wherein the LGX performed sub-par, perhaps?

He's full of crap. Mine is great and I could drive a nail with it.

He probably gets some kickback from Titan. AMS has great products. I have the LGX and it gets so hard my wife and I both only want it pumped to 75-80%. It is much more comfortable for both of us than the rock hard full pump. Titans are better for guys with large penises, but otherwise there is no benefit.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

That’s interesting. I have an LGX. It gets harder than my natural teen-age erection, and I’m not even inflating to 100% yet. My doc and I discussed all the Coloplast and AMS products. I’m sure he would have told me if I was making a bad choice. I wonder what specifically he thought were the problems with the LGX.

It appeared to me from the original post that he was steering Trchd1 towards the AMS CX, not any Coloplast product.

So, I wonder if this one physician's prejudice is because of some bad experience with an LGX. Or perhaps he does not trust the LGX because of the failures of the prior AMS product (Ultrex, I believe) that attempted (badly) the lengthening feature that the LGX does much more successfully.

Isn't the main difference between the CX and LGX the lack of the Dacron webbing (or whatever it is) that prevents length expansion and limits girth expansion to a specific level on the CX? I understood that the LGX was basically the same material but it didn't have the restricting mesh in its makeup so it would stretch lengthwise and wasn't as limited in diameter.

This may be wrong but if that's the major difference, maybe the lack of the limiting layer is what concerns the doctor and makes him think the LGX is crap. That's its big selling point though, from what I know of the product.

That is what he mentioned about the lgx model is its construction he only uses AMS products so it was not geared towards not using coloplast for sure or any kickbacks from coloplast
this doctor does about a hundred to 120 implants a year so I trust the guy
But after listening to you guys now I'm getting nervous and worried what should I do?

It's easier (and cheaper) to get it right the first time than to have to have a revision. There's nothing to say that your doctor isn't a good choice but speaking from my own experiences, I wish I had been on FrankTalk for a couple of months BEFORE I had my implant surgery. I might have signed up with the doctor I'm scheduled to see on Feb 3rd for a second opinion if I had.

The doctor that did my implant is a full-time urologist and my guess would be that he does maybe a handful of implants a month so maybe something on the order of the 100+ your doctor does. My doctor was rated 71% above his peers on Healthgrades website for Penile Implant surgery.

The doctor I feel I should have gone with and who may be doing a revision surgery only months after my first one, ranks 98% above his peers and he does probably 2-3 implants a day for 3-4 days a week, or 6-12 total per week (guestimate). At that rate, he would complete between 312 to 624 surgeries a year based on 52 week year.

If it were me, I'd check out my potential doctor on healthgrades.com and see what he ranks for complex penile surgery and implant surgery.
