Contact hospital and ask for senior Pt care rep. Explain the urgency of the matter. You might also ask your Dr to do a Dr to Dr review on the exclusion. Your injured and already have implants. The exclusion is for enhancement and sexual crap. The exclusion may also be your employer who has the exclusion. But you need your Dr. Dr to request a review asap. Not an appeal. Review

I am in almost the same boat as you. Check with your doctor and see if he will do the surgery at an outpatient surgery center. Much less expensive than a hospital. When you get a a quote from them let them know that you are a cash patient. You may be pleasantly surprised. Try applying with Care Credit you can get s loan intrest free for 36 months.

What is the reason bsbc won’t do it? I’ve recently had issues with them because California pulled out of the blue card program. Lucky I was able to do a business version that covered me everywhere

I think in a perfect world we could have a fund made of voluntary contributions from members here to help seemingly hopeless cases.

I don't recall the names but several cases have come up recently.
I can't recall if it was on this forum some years ago or on a Toyota forum where I put in a $20 initiation donation.

It would also be great if there were docs and facilities and manufacturers who would provide lower cost goods and services. If only Jeff Bezos was a member here?

I'm from Louisiana and it seems that every insurance policy has penile implants as an exclusion. Possibly it differs state to state? I know for sure that my employer has an exclusion on it. I intend on fighting it due to the pain its causing from being busted and already having an initial implant hopefully they will have mercy on me and allow me to have the revision. Sad because I work for a major hospital system here and they exclude these things and don't consider how important these procedures are to a mans physical and mental well being.

I also will be going to be contacting the hospital and asking for the senior patient rep like Biker said. They seem to be ignoring my phone calls though and sending me straight to voicemail. I've left countless messages to them and no one has returned my calls. Hopefully they will consider the pain I'm in and the severity of it and possibly work something out with me. I don't care if I have to make monthly payments. I'll do anything at this point. I can actually feel where it blew out rubbing against the inside of my penis. Hopefully that won't leave me with any long lasting problems. Thanks everyone for their advice and encouragement. Please keep it coming if anybody has any other ideas I can try.

Have you talked to the doc who did the original implant? Perhaps he would be able to help you; maybe he would know of options for you that you have not thought of.

Could the failure of the implant be (partially) covered by your accident-injury policy if you have one?

I think the debilitating pain feature might give you a leverage point. You mentioned this before, I think. Recovery of sexual function is one thing. Recovery of overall function (you are unable to work as effectively because of the continual pain/discomfort) is another. This pain in your penis is comparable to persistent headache or carpal-tunnel syndrome, if not migraine headaches.

Restoring a lost bodily function is the reason for many men's implants and is usually covered. This is not for pleasure. It is for repair.

I did see my doc and told him about the implant bust and pain associated with it. He offered to do the revision for free. I really love my doctor, he did a great job on the initial implant and really seems to care. The only thing he said is he does not have any authority over the hospital charges. The hospital is it's own entity and he has no control over it. I spoke with the AMS rep and the implant is under warranty. It broke only after 4 years! The problem I am having is they all have their little rules and stipulations. I'm assuming, from what I can gather, AMS wants to credit the hospital only after the revision is done. I'm guessing so they can be sure that the implant really did fail by inspecting it. The hospital my doctor uses refuses to perform the surgery before everything is paid. So they just butting heads at this point while it's me that is suffering. The hospital is Willis Knighton, if anybody ever dealt with them or have any advice how I can get them to realize the severity of the situation. They want me to pay for everything first, then after the surgery the implant would be credited back over to the hospital. I'm a full time college student, working a full time crappy job barely making enough to live off of, so I don't see any resolution in sight as of now. I'll either have to find a job with better health insurance or wait till open enrollment. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that and I can get them to work with me. The AMS reps have started blowing me off as well and all they tell me is that they will let me know any updates. I'm guessing they hope I just forget about it and leave them alone.

The Ams reps will write you a letter to challenge the exclusion. PM me if you want more info.
