I went to one of the docs I’m considering to do my implant.I want a malleable- specifically the Tactra. I was excited about seeing this urologist because he is local and I believe he is a good surgeon. He has reportedly done a lot of implants. However, he had never heard of the Tactra. How is that possible?

Hey there! First of all, congratulations on making the big leap! So, I am not going to diss his skills as a surgeon. It’s completely fair that he’s never heard of this… Most people get the three-piece implants, these days… Unless, of course, there’s some kind of underlying situation “dexterity issues, someone who is really preventative of mechanical issues, things like that“… anyway, I would ask him how many malleable implants he has done… there is a difference between the surgeries and I think the same care should be cooking with choosing any surgeon… Maybe, to be safe, interview one or two more surgeons? Best of luck, my friend!

I'd consider that as a red flag tbh.

I would consider that a yellow flag:). Surgeon may be doing implants, and like White Cane said, he is just doing 3-piece implants.
You say he never heard of Tactra, that may be possible only because he/she is focused on the 3 piece. BUT, does the surgeon do 1 piece implants? Tactra is just another model from Coloplast, so it is possible that THIS model that have not worked with. Need to brush up, that's all. Move on....

Tactra is made by AMS, which was purchased by Boston Scientific for $1.65 billion in 2015. So now owned and developed by BSX.
