New User-size eligibility question

Postby Jfatttorusso1985 » Fri Mar 30, 2012 10:30 am

Hey everyone..glad I found this site. I am a young man of 26 that has battled ED most of his life, due to what I assume is some form of venous leakage/hypogonadism...I've managed this far and could get an erection but not keep it for long and only now as time is passing is it getting harder to maintain a satisfying sex life. I have reviewed the risks and I'm fairly confident this is the option for me..however, and this worries me, what is the minimum penile size required to be eligible for an implant? With a ruler firmly pressed into my pubic bone and a healthy tug my tip reaches just over 6", and before the head/glans penis it reaches just about 5"...without any tugging at all I am about 3.75"...I have a fair amount of flexibility down there and was always considered a grower, I am in good shape with good looks so size does not matter so much to me as long as it is usable. Am I too young to consider this? I do believe nothing else will work. I also have rather thin girth. Is there an implant for me? I am getting into the best of shape to be prepared for a possible surgery. Any information would be rather helpful, thanks guys. Also if there is a way to get in touch with people who are comfortable physically showing their implants so I know what I am getting into exactly, that would be a godsend. I plan to go with who I hear is one of the best, Dr. Eid in nyc, though any suggestions would be helpful, thanks again.

My only suggestion is to try other, less invasive, therapies first. That makes sense in dealing with any medical issue. If, in fact, you're not satisfied with the results of pills and injections, then I would join everyone else who would say "Go for it!"

Thank you for the response--but any answers on my size eligibility questions? That's my main concern about it..

I don't think you have anything to worry about size wise, however you may gain some girth no matter weather you get the coloplast titan or the AMS 700 lxg which is what I have. If you want to be much lager in girth, there are some larger girth options with the titan. That said the lgx will probably increase the girth as well but only up to the max cylinder size which is about 18mm in think. so 2x18= 36 so that might give you an idea of the girth you would end up at. I am 14 mo's post op and my size continues to slowly increase, I am now at pre ed lenght and a little more girth. I am pleased. Like Antelope said, maybe you could look at other things, but at your age and all you have to look forward to, and that is slipping away? If it was me and I could afford it????
It looks like it aint getting better and if you have medical confirmation the choice would be easier. Why not made an appointment with a ED specialist and see if therte is any optins. It is hard to an old guy like me to remenber how important sex was for me at your age, but I am pretty sure it would have devasted me.
Good luck and I hope some others here will give some more to consider, but I say do it.

Thanks for your reply..I see that with the right Dr., the technology has come far enough that it is a viable option...my biggest fear is future replacements, but i am sure the technology will only get better and I have nothing to lose. I am not happy with what's going on organically and I do not want to spend my 30s in this state. Is anyone familiar with the best New York insurance to use for Dr. Eid?

I don't understand this question. Most people have insurance through their job or Medicare or a company they've already engaged, so in most cases regarding insurance the issue is: "Is this doctor or this procedure covered under my insurance plan?" Please explain.

To KMeister--I'm a server in the city and unfortunately my company does not provide health insurance--I will be taking out independent health insurance, hopefully for a plan that covers Dr. Eid's services. If anyone has any information on insurance plans in the New York area it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

My implant was installed on 12/20/2010. I haven't looked back. Drop me a PM with your personal email and if you like I'll provide you with a copy of my journal of my implant journey, including pictures. I'd be happy to talk with you by phone or email (or in person if you find yourself in St. Louis), about any aspect of my experience. You might want to look for and talk to a couple of other FrankTalk members, Minnesota is a 23 year-old with an implant, and I think TwoStep is also in his 20s. And they are not the only ones.

All the best.

Russo, I'll cut to the chase.

If you have irretrievable ED at this age in life, it is not going to get any better and, in fact, it will get worse. Your dick will shrink in size (atrophy) for lack of use, so for right now you might consider getting a vacuum erection device. Use it daily or every other day to maintain your size. Then find a doctor who specializes in the treatment of male sexual function. Forget about going to any doctor who is not trained in this area, as you will find the experience to be frustrating, expensive, and long-hauled. Trust me; I've been there.

As to your insurance issue, most single-issue individual health plans, especially for younger insureds, are not rich in benefits. In your situation, an individual plan is likely going to exclude pre-existing conditions for the first 12 months of coverage. And many group healthcare plans provided by employers exclude IPP surgery as a covered benefit.

IPP surgery is very expensive; mine was $38,200 by one of the famous IPP placement surgeons. My insurance covered all of the cost, except for my annual $2,000 deductible/max out-of-pocket expense.

Using the stretch test you described in your post, your dick size is above average and there are certainly IPP's easily sized to accommodate you, as well as much smaller and larger dicks than yours.

If you're in the market for healthcare insurance purchased as an individual plan, the best thing to do is to read the proposed policy's surgical benefits and exclusions to determine whether the IPP procedure is a covered or excluded condition.

I don't know much about specific insurance plans. However, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to use an independent agent to find a suitable insurance plan. There are even web sites that will search for all kinds of insurance. You just put in your age, sex, zip code, etc. (That's how my wife and I bought our life insurance.) Might be worth a look.

Also, you might find it helpful to check into available health insurance for your particular occupation. Some professional organizations and interest groups help their members with insurance, thereby getting them a lower premium. There are insurance collectives for all kinds of people: farmers, Christians, the self-employed, you name it. (AARP does this very well.) You mentioned that you're a server. There's a web site called Tip20!.com that provides information to waiters, servers, bartenders, etc.

Good luck!
