Do your homework

Postby rufuswd » Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:32 pm

First off I really wish I had found this website before the implant. I researched for weeks and found only encouraging information. Perhaps limp noodle desperation clouded my judgement. Tried pills and shots. Shots hurt and too expensive. Pills stopped working. So got the implant 25Nov2019. If I knew then what I know now, no way would I have done it. Now the whining and bitching starts. Bruising- black from asshole to above hairline. PAIN- two oxy would wouldn't quite cut it. Two scripts. Swelling- Sack bigger than a softball, balls very sore and dick almost untouchable. Frozen peas and ice packs helped a lot. Pain and swelling mostly gone by three weeks out. Size- Before full blown ED 5 1/2. When I did get it to pump up maybe 3 1/2 and soft head. Not exactly what I was lead to expect.
Now the fun part. Started to try to cycle at Three weeks. Couldn't get the pump to squeeze. Tried for several days. Called the Dr. office, a two hour drive away and PA fit me in. He messed with it and I said "please tell me you're not pumping that thing up." His response: " Yep, works fine. " I still couldn't get it to work in his office. He said just to practice. Finally got it to pump last week and cycled it twice a day or more. Now the big day. We tried it out Sunday. IT WOULDN'T PUMP UP! Ball mashed and stayed flat. Thank God for my understanding and supportive wife. Fingers, tongue and toys saved the day and I jerked off. I was really bummed out. She said don't worry it will work itself out. God I love that woman! Follow up appointment next week. Wonder if they'll take it back? This is just my experience and doesn't appear to be the norm. Just get better information than I bid.

Try squeezing your shaft to get any of the remaking fluid out. This may reset the pump.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Rufus, I don't see where you indicate whether you have an AMS or Titan. If it's an AMS, pressing the release button while pumping will result in a jam-up of the pump. It gets stuck halfway between inflate and deflate and the bulb won't fill.

To refill the bulb so you can pop the valve, place a thumb and index finger on opposite sides of the pump block and squeeze end-to-end. The bulb should fill up with saline. Once that happens, press the deflate button to make sure it's in "DEFLATE" mode, then squeeze the bulb with a sharp squeezing motion to pop it back into "INFLATE". That should get it working again if it only needed reset.

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll try it right now. Guess I just had to rant and vent yesterday. It is a AMX 700. You'd think the PA would have shared that information. So grateful for the nice and helpful guys on here. They probably won't take it back anyway. Happy New Year to all. Chuck

When my pump bulb goes flat when I squeeze it, I press the release button and can feel the bulb refilling.
It usually resets it.

Did you receive an AMS packet? I did and I had a DVD in the packet that had a lot of info in it. Ways to inflate and fixes for problems. If you can locate it watch it. Once you get the inflate/deflate thing worked out and start regular inflating/deflating you should start to see some size returning. So keep at it.

Those same videos (the entire contents of the AMS DVD) are available online on Boston Scientific's AMS site. If you don't have the DVD, just look on their website. If you can't find the videos and other troubleshooting information, look up the contact info on the website for the Patient Advocate and call them. They should help and/or point you in the right direction.

I second the suggestion

The manufacturer's Patient Advocate is often more knowledgeable than the surgeon. Remember, the surgeon is expert on the mechanics, etc of living tissues. The manufacturer is expert on the mechanics of the device itself.

The Patient Advocate is paid for already and his/her JOB is to advise both the medical professionals and the patients on any questions or uncertainties.
