Do you really have to wonder why it's embarrassing to tell people that you are sexually impotent?

I know the term is used generically as a catch-all term for all male reproductive issues but the term "Sexually Impotent" typically brings up visions of a male who "fires blanks" and is thought of as "not a real man". This is usually far from the truth.

Even though the term "IMPOTENT" is used frequently in regards to ED and physical damage to the male genitalia, the truth of the matter is that in most cases, the man isn't impotent and as a matter of fact, can usually ejaculate and produce sperm just fine. Only the ability to naturally implant the sperm into the woman is broken.

Even with Peyronie's and a soft erection both limiting my ability to have penetrative intercourse, I never felt that I was impotent and would have felt insulted if anyone had made that implication, at least without having a recent sperm count test.

Using the word "impotent" to refer to E.D. or other male genital problems needs to be retired (like the other offensive terms we have often used in the past). "Impotence" means "powerless," and nobody wants to be labeled "powerless."

Thanks for the feedback. Did you have much interaction with the medical staff during the 3 days?

My surgeon came in and removed my drain before I was released from the hospital and I didn't see or talk to any medical people until I went in for my follow up 2 weeks later. At that time he showed me how to inflate and deflate.

Going alone is totally doable. While I was given pain meds, I never took them. The swelling was the worst part. Ice packs help but it is still like you have a hard-on 24/7. Make sure you wear some loose pants for the drive home. My doctor recommended I keep my penis pointed up to help with swelling but my new flaccid now runs into my waist band so it was not comfortable to do. I usually wear boxers but I wore jockeys after I got home for a while. I used them to keep my dick from pointing down and help hide my "hard on". After about 10 or 14 days I switched to boxer briefs so I could point my dick down, which I find more comfortable, and they are tight enough to keep the beast tamed. Although, I did catch a couple women checking out my package.

Did you have a catheter?

I honestly don't remember.

This is correct. The term impotent is no longer a medical term. It is just an adjective. I, however, prefer it! It nicely captures how it feels to have a dick that you have no control over.

Hey bud, I did the surgery alone and thought it was totally fine. Lying on your back does get boring as hell, and make sure to go easy on the pain meds. Make sure you have lots of ice, food & drinks and whatever else you might need those first couple days.
