Family gathering day after implant surgery?

Postby Skier123 » Fri Dec 13, 2019 7:54 pm

Let me start out by saying I am cringing a little at the thought as I type the headline ...

But what do you guys think? Do-able? Ridiculously bad idea? Somewhere in between?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Your place or theirs? Travel might be uncomfortable. Will you get awkward questions about sitting a lot or walking painfully? I know I would not have been up to it, but everybody's different.

I don't think I wanted to wear street clothes for awhile after surgery.
I could walk normally though (not for long distances).

I stayed horizontal on my back for several days. Not that I REALLY had to, but having read one post from one guy who mowed his lawn shortly after surgery (and regretted having made the effort) I opted for discretion over valor.

The day after surgery I was to be resting and icing. I would contact your doctor as to what he wants you to be doing for the day(s) post surgery.

I don’t think so. I would want you to be on your back in a prone position for at least 2 days. Otherwise you might have to suffer with a lot of swelling and bruising. Ask your doc.

Personally, I would say I had a hernia surgery or something like that… rest this one out… If it’s necessary, eat some of the candy that the doctor gives you and just have your family remember it as that time that uncle skier tried but couldn’t stay awake… The day after surgery is when all of the swelling and stuff kicked in for me… It wasn’t completely crippling but it definitely was enough for me to lay starfish on my bed…

My advice is No! (for the reasons above).
