Typically the corpora are irretrievably damaged or removed. But not always. (This I infer at least one study I read that found a small number (vanishingly small) of men actually retain or regain some degree of erectile ability after implantation.)

Of course, some of that erectile ability might be the spongiosum, which SHOULD be insufficient for (coitus-ready) erections, but, who knows?

Despite my doctor's statement that he destroyed my erectile tissue, I still get morning wood (in feeling more than in effect) and get a degree of stiffening about 10-20 minutes after being totally "flaccid" from deflating. I believe I still have some viable erectile tissue in my corporal capsules even if the doctor dilated it or compressed it with the dilator too to get the cylinders inserted.

I have a little erectile function left, especially with manual stimulation. As far as the glans is concerned: if I pump up without sexual stimulation, my glans gets pale and cold and does not swell at all. If I am stimulated or masturbate, my glans does warm up and redden and expands. My body position also has an effect. If I'm sitting up or standing, I get more tumescence in the head than if I'm lying down. I can feel the tips of the cylinders in the glans area. This has been my experience so far, but I am only 8 weeks in.

I would definitely clarify. My tips go up into my glans within about a .25 inch or so from tip. If I just pump up and am not into any form of se or release. I can definitely feel the pointy tips well up in the glans

If I am into it, and my head engorges, I cannot feel a tip or cylinder at all.

Maybe they are talking about the part of the cylinder that expands. I do not think the tip expands. It is just the top of the cylinder.

I suspect most of you who care have already looked this up, but here's a pretty good explanation:
