I do the same with my square cut suit I wear frequently.

I am surprised by some of these comments. I only wear this suit when I swim laps early in the morning with a few other adult lap swimmers around. I swim and then walk 10’ to the locker room to shower. There are other men who wear suits more revealing than this so this is not an unusual sight. Sometimes I go later in the day when more families are there and wear a black square cut that hides everything more, but even that time of day I see several revealing suits, including some of the dads with kids.

There are definitely more men at my gym’s pool now who wear Speedo style briefs again than there were a couple years ago. Even in the gym itself guys are wearing Under Armour shorts with nothing over it. Although less skin is showing, they reveal a lot the way the hug the skin. I wouldn’t consider doing that.

OK, here's where I generate incoming flack and possible censure.

I'm surprised you're surprised. You didn't originally make it clear that the early morning hours are at least unofficially reserved for like minded individuals. I hope that "unofficial reservation" is fairly well known by other patrons. Generally I'd say such attire would be more appropriate in nudist settings or hedonist type resorts or gay gyms or bath houses. In a more general public setting the thought that comes to most minds upon observing such attire being worn is "pervert", "old pervert" or "dirty old man". I live in flyover country so maybe my perspective is unique here.

WOW! Where I swim the serious lap swimmers tend to wear as little as possible to move sleekly through the water and prevent drag. Some suits are so low cut you know whether or not they manscape. I may be desensitized since I have been a nude model for artists since I was 18 but I see men of all ages at the gym who wear similar styles and I am sure they aren’t all accustomed to being nude in front of others.

I do see guys there even during family swim time who just walk back and forth wearing next to nothing and your comments about pervert definitely apply. I am not that way at all. If I am just there to hang out, like laying by the outdoor pool to sun, I wear gym shorts with compression shorts under.

I live in a major metro area so it may be that makes a difference.

I don’t understand what in your comment make you out to be horrible. You just sound eager to get on with your life.

Well, Greg, the consensus view that this type swimwear makes s 63 yr old a pervert of some type is what makes me think folks will view me as horrible. Granted, I wouldn’t wear that to wade in the kiddie pool. But at a mostly adult beach? On a cruise where I’ll never see anyone again? Sure.

Quick story on how I ended up in risqué swim trunks, for years we’d do our annual pilgrimage to beach with kids in tow and I always wore old Army gym shorts. Nothing revealing there.

When I retired wife decided we would take a cruise to celebrate. She gripes enough about me having real swimwear instead of Army PT stuff that I broke down and googled “discount men fashion swim trunks”. There was a hit, 7 different trunks from name brand manufacturers for $50. You give them the size. The color, the brand, the cut was all a mystery. Who can resist that kind of deal.

When the box arrived I gave my wife a fashion show. Her comment that “you would have looked hot in those at age 25 or 30” meant only one thing. I’d wear them regardless.

Over the next few years I dropped 25 lbs but lost 6-8 inches on my waist, built up a nicer upper body. I’m the beach bully who would kick sand in the 98 lb weakling’s face, except I’m.a nice guy.

If it helps I usually cover the swim trunks with gym shorts until we get to beach and I see who else is around. But if the crowd is mostly adults I see no reason not to wear swimsuits even if you can tell I have junk beneath the fabric.

If that makes me an old pervert, so be it. In 30-40 yrs I’ll be in a box six feet under and won’t really be able to enjoy showing off a bit. In the meantime I can hardly wait to put on swim trunks over my newly installed bits.

I think the key difference between us and perverts is we are sensitive to when it is OK to wear these suits because others do or nobody cares, but we cover up or wear something else when we know it isn’t appropriate.

There are a lot of guys who are simply uncomfortable wearing a Speedo style suit and therefore uncomfortable when other guys do. I have been to high school and college sports, including swimming track, and wrestling where the VPL (visible penis lines) are more prominent than mine is in this suit. Also on the Olympics televised around the world.

My first thoughts are that the N2N's are so revealing, why bother to wear anything ? But then I remember that such "see thru" wear is quite sexy on women with nips and camel toe showing. But then I remember you and presumably the other guys in your pool are heterosexual so I get back to wondering ! I guess the reason is hydrodynamics but in other than "every tenth of a second counts" competitive matches does it really make a difference in swim effort or speed compared to conventional swim trunks ? If yes, I stand corrected...

Sometimes just swim trunks show more than a speedo, or the like, I used to swim in high school even on a Masters Team up until my divorce when I gained a ton of weight.

So until I lose a ton of weight I won't be swimming in my speedo but as soon as I can I will be

Perhaps you presume wrong! There are many both gay and bi members here on this forum. I will presume the same exists at some of these venues where such attire is worn. Not a judgement!
