Good evening my friend! Saw you talked with AMS rep. How did you get in touch with him? Wouldn’t mind talking to him about doctors in my area. Do you think you’ll get the AMS or Coloplast implant?

I bet that they would never give that info out even under the threat of death. That just isn't done as far as my experience goes.
I've heard that the implants are actually sold to the hospital in most cases.

To follow up on my previous post. We go to a group dental practice. My wife's dentist to tried to put an implant in a tooth socket that the manufacturer says not to. Got infected, lost a lot of bone & a second tooth. He was under investigation before he started on my wife. His assistant ratted him out. Hers was the worst case out of 60+ patients. He got my wifes records out & rewrote the page containing the last few visits. The assitant ratted on that also. She said that her notes weren't in this new fairy tale version.Funny thing, his & the practice share the same liability insurance company. Come time to settle up. The paperwork released the practice but held the whole claim against the dentist. He still has a practice in a city farther south from us.
Take most info from many of these people with a grain of salt until you can verify it with independent sources. Oh, be kind to the rest of the staff. They might be the best allies you can get in a dispute.

The rep would not be very specific. I mentioned my Dr. he knows him and spoke highly of the Dr by name Twin that group. I mentioned the one in the group that does the most and said I just can’t use that guy.

He said there are several high volume guys in New Orleans area. I named one he said yes. He also said there in one in a North LA. I named that one.

His comment was you are doing your homework.

He did say that he has a personal friend that had his done in New Orleans and he would have that guy call me.

I understand HIPA and would not push him. He appreciated that.

I also mentioned the Dr that I went to see that turned me away. He told me that Dr only uses the Titan.

I spoke to my AMS rep regularly before my implant. The rep attends many of the surgeries He also. brings a full inventory of sizes. I insisted he attend my surgery.
He can not recommend one surgeon over another however if you have requirements of the surgeon he can suggest surgeons who meet your requirements. For example I wanted a surgeon who did 50 or more a year. I also wanted a surgeon who used the "no touch technique" he gave me two names and i interviewed them and chose hotaling at the university of utah. I am very happy with treatment and results.

If you have the option of travel that opens up some world class implanters. I asked my AMS rep many questions about the procedure, surgical options, sizing. It took me 8 months research, fear, doubt. The more i learned the more comfortable I became with the decision. Dr Eid in NY has a very detailed description of his surgical technique. Dr Kramer has many videos showing the many probems and issues in IPP surgery. Both are on youtube. Franktalk was invaluabe resource. The biggest regrets 1) Inexperienced surgeon 2) waiting too long fribrosis.
