when did you decide you need an implant? i sustained an injury using a VED a while ago and am still recovering however i may not ever fully heal. at this stage cialis is only effective less than 50% of the time and when it is i dont feel like i have 100% EQ. i will continue to be optimistic about healing but at what point did you guys realize that getting implanted was the right choice?

When I finally realized how shitty things actually were.
When I realized that by continuing with my hit-and-miss performances on pills, I’d dig myself deeper and deeper into a hole I didn’t want to be in. And never would get out of.
When I realized there is no F way things will ever get better. Or even stop getting worse.

By the time an implant was suggested to me I was so frustrated living with ED and failure from every other form of treatment that I was ready to accept it. I have mentored a lot of other men and what I tell them is there will be a day when you realize there is nothing to lose by doing it. When you first develop ED you have all the other things you can try, but if they don’t work you realize you either will live your life not being able to have a fulfilling sex life or you can take the plunge and get an implant.

I’ve tried Viagra and a couple of other things to try to get things working… I woke up the day after Thanksgiving to my girlfriend crying next to me… Her maternal time clock was going off… without a lot of money, it was difficult to make that dream come to fruition… we love each other and practice open communication… I could tell this one was really bothering her… Being the guy that I am, I started researching in vitro fertilization, adoption, anything necessary to make this happen… my genius urologist never even brought up the possibility of an implant… I had never heard of it… so, I met a guy in the process of looking into in vitro fertilization/semen collection… He told me he was just going to get this done… He said it was “cheaper/easier/more beneficial in the end“ I saved a couple grand and broke the news to my girlfriend about three months ago! she was more excited about this than me… Again, crying on my shoulder but much happier tears this time… sadly, we’ve had a long-term relationship and have never add quality penetrative sex… she says that she loves the sex we have had but I know deep down that it could be so much better… for instance, I could stay hard Long enough to orgasm LOL… anyway, 11 days until surgery… this beautiful girl is already making ice packs… I met this great group of gentlemen on the Internet who have become closer to me than a lot of people I’ve known for 25 years… They let me know it’s all going to be OK… that’s my quite wordy story

That's thin ice though. The dead meat and no blood filled glans engorgement is an individual thing. That might be the case for you, but not for all. Definitely not for me. I am lucky to have great glans engorgement.
I do agree with you though that an implant works much better (as in feels much more natural) when there is glans engorgement.
But for those of you considering an implant, whether or not your glans will fill up with blood probably depends on your pre-op status. Not on the implant itself unless your doc fucks up and destroys something. Which he most likely won't if you pick an experienced, good one.

I am probably out on a limb here by saying that my penis looks better, feels great (I have normal glans engorgement) and obviously performs better than it ever did...Er.....maybe when I was 18.....but then I shot my load in 60 seconds..........does that really count?
My ability to concentrate on my partner’s experience has increased indescribably.
No longer am I driven purely by the need to empty my balls inside 3 minutes and my attention to foreplay has become way more sophisticated.
All because the implant gives me 100% control.
But it can’t do it all by itself.....it’s just an engineering solution.
Some guys are not in good shape......overweight and unfit........any intervention is maximised by good general health......just sayin

You're asking a really good question. My opinion which isn't worth much. I would suggest following whatever treatment plan that your doctor reccomends. Perhaps even consulting a second doctor. After your doctor says that he is out of treatment ideas. That is the day I would to suggest making the decision. Until then, read & study the forum. Get comfortable with what your goals are & get a general idea if it is realistic. Research a surgeon in your area, check your insurance coverage. If there isn't a surgeon local that you're comfortable with. Expand your search area by 500 miles & search again. I don't know where you live but I suspect that you can find a suitable doctor using this method. If you don't find one this way then you can fall back to one of the 7 or 8 doctors that get consistent good results per this forums reports.
Please be sure to pay this forward. Warn any young men in your circle of friends to learn about VED's before using one. No need to tell about your total story. Just say that you were lucky & recovered but that it was a close call to having permanent ED. Goog luck.

thanks for the replies. I've been reading this forum since the injury and been looking into injections also. the thought of injections does not appeal to me at all, and as i am 27 the chances of scaring with regular use is high for me. unfortunately travelling to the USA is not an option for me however there is a high volume surgeon in Australia which is supposedly world class. I've researched all the usual things such as loss of length and infra pubic vs scrotal (i hope to go scrotal as to avoid all the nerves), and which implant to use (i think the LGX or titan would fit my anatomy of approx 6.5-7 x 5.5" girth). I am not too worried if i lose an inch to half an inch as long as it works. as for glans, i think i will be fine in that department as i have full sensitivity and it does engorge. i just know that when i make the decision there is no going back, and i will have to have at least 4-5 revisions in my lifetime. i hope things improve soon but at 27, years without a sex life is not appealing to me either (should have thought of that before i fucked up).
