David1973 wrote:Manufacturers make both inflatable and malleable implants. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. The inflatable prosthesis produces an effect very close to natural erection - flaccid when not in use but rigid when appropriate. It is almost impossible for someone to know it is present from appearance alone.

But these inflatable devices are mechanically more complicated. All these parts can fail. One can expect the need to replace the device eventually, maybe every 7 - 10 years. Sometimes more often. Some men have difficulty inflating or deflating the pump (men with impaired hand function after a stroke, severe arthritis, hand amputation, etc).

The malleable devices are simple to implant and with no moving parts are incredibly reliable. They can last decades in place, but as noted above, can extrude from continuous pressure. There is little to fail mechanically and no pump and tubing in a man’s scrotum. Some types produce an extremely firm or rigid erection that is almost too firm. But of course, they produce a permanent rigid erection. It can be bent down when not needed and up when needed. Most men will wear a jock or tight fitting underwear to keep it concealed under street clothes. Concealment can be a problem for the big guys.

Because a “permanent” erection is not a natural state, it is more likely it will be obvious in the bedroom and the locker room. A malleable implant is not going to be a secret from friends and partners. Some men find that a problem, but many are not bothered that that at all. (Would it matter to you if your wife or a few friends knew you had an implant?)

It is great that there are options for us as we ponder going bionic.

Same problem injections very hard to keep secret you inject and if your using a ring there is the time to apply pressure to site time to raise then done and the girl is in shock how you do that

3 piece is not concealable by just the eye you have three balls. I’ve talked to multiple surgeons and they frown on malleable saying always simi rigid never fully ridged

Robert51, are there downsides that we might not know about (the ones mentioned earlier in this thread are the only common ones I know)?

Well you can do what i did search y tube there are always two sides to every story

Yes, I could do what you did (and I have already done prior to posing my question). That would involve re-inventing the wheel. The purpose of most of us being here is to share information we have that others may not have (thus saving all of us time and effort). I thought you might have discovered something I had not already discovered. That you would be willing to share instead of just telling me to repeat the search what both of us had already done.

Thank you for attempting the advice, though.

Well with me using injections and you already implanted seems we are both on our chosen path So giving advice on maleable implants neither of us chose would only confuse someone looking in that direction. The line between information and opinion is often very sharp

Malleable implant in 2002. At the time they had been having problems with auto-inflation, and failure rate was way above malleable. I had used MUSE, Viagra, and Vacuum. The malleable literature said "bend up for use, down for storage. The up part worked fine, the down part has never worked well. By the time I had settled on underwear (boxers) that didn't hurt the tip with pressure (briefs or jock strap), the bulge showed. After I retired I didn't worry about is so much as I wear blue jeans daily which hide the down the leg bulge. When I wear slacks with boxers the penis down the pant leg is obvious, I tried compression shorts but my equipment tends to return to the pouch which hurts the tip. Women's panty girdle (no pouch) works to hold penis up and to the right. It looks like I'm carrying a lot of change or keys in my pocket.

Dexterity, hip issues, aversion to inflatable. They do all have the same sensitivity assuming the surgeon does a proper job. I hear mixed reviews about the semi rigid implant I for one will be going that route this year. Negative things are erosions, soft hard state, and Kramer said the spectra is a ratchet like feel but will see what the tactra is like. Benefits are no tubing, no pump, and life time value.

Genesis semi rigid for temporary space holder after infection during revision (New cx+ distal repair) for erosion.

At the begining the first month it was cool, but the patch repair has tear off (i think, will have mri this month).
Implant sizing is shorter to avoid risk of damage, so hello flail penis & glans buckling.
If you still have residual erection maybe this could be a good option. If you have poor basal bloodflow, the best deal is inflatable.

So Frenchboy, do you have before pics of your cock?
I too, had an infection and got some bad news today. I am stuck with what I have in the malleable right now. I went from a 'whoa' cock size, as someone put it, to average.
The malleable was put in temporarily until I get the Titan, but I am literally fucked!
I forgot all the questions I was going to ask the Dr. because of the news.
