He actually trained some of the other doctors that everyone raves about here. Is he part of some by-gone era, and the new young guys have added so much to his initial pioneering, so as to have surpassed him? I think he's the smartest man I have ever met. I do, however, only have one dick, and kind of need to get this right.
Dr. Goldstein is certainly a legend among urologists. He's been in the game for a long time, he's been a pioneer in the fight against ED for decades, and he's been performing implant surgeries since the 70's. That being said, I do think he is part of a by-gone era and has been surpassed by his students as it were. As he has admitted to me himself, he doesn't perform many implant surgeries regularly. I don't know about how many he's performed over his lifetime, but when I spoke to him in 2018 on the subject, he estimated he performed about a dozen a year.
Meanwhile, guys like Kramer and Eid live and breathe implant surgeries. That's what they've made their living on, that's their specialty. When I told Goldstein this year that I was going to be pursuing an implant, he offered his services, but when I told him I was considering Kramer, he was very supportive of that choice. He also highly recommend Eid, talking about how many hundreds of implant surgeries Eid does in a year.
Personally, Goldstein was also off the table for me because he doesn't work with my insurance. Also, while I do respect and like him well enough, he's very difficult to reach, that, paired with his recommendations that I peruse Shock Wave Therapy and PRP treatments, neither of which had any effect, have both left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth towards him. I think he talked the treatments up a lot more than he should've done.
Regardless, while he's probably a much better choice than your average urologist, if you really need to get the implant surgery done right, I might advocate you consider pursuing surgery with a high-volume implant surgeon like Kramer, Karpman or Eid. I think Goldstein himself would tell you as much.
