Implant salvage today

Postby Frenchboy » Tue Aug 13, 2019 10:20 am

Hello there,
I m just waking up from surgery.
Had an Infected Cx with pump adhesion and erosion. No fever, lot of fluids squirting outside when pumping. Not really painful but distressing.

So my surgeon told me that I have a sepsis and the implant must be taken out. He asked me to choose :

- explant, washout and wait 3 months to cure and heal. Sure the infection will be knocked out, but to reimplant will be very tricky and with high risk of infection (fibrosis = less bloodflow).

- explant, washout and immediate implantation of a semi-rigid (Genesis).

I choosed the second option. I hope that infection is now just a bad memory.
I remember that with a well seated implant I can have a hard on sufficient for intercourse. I wasn t pumping that much to have sex, just expanding the cylinders but I think the amount of stifness I used to pump was the stifness of a semi rigid.

Have a nice day

Best of luck. Is the revision being done by the same dr?

Thank you I really appreciate your words.

Yes the surgery Cx + graft and the salvage was realized by the same. He told me that after 6 months if I wish we could switch for an inflatable. Great new, but I ll really give a try with that implant.

In the past I was really fearing infection, having a read a lots of medical articles about it. But today, I know that it can be treated and not be a disastrous event.
My infection was not

Ask to your surgeon about infection before surgery, what is the plan. If he says the game would be over, maybe find another one.

Post op day +5 : i am healing well. Have receiced bacterial results from the infected implant culture. All is négative. Surgeon said you ve received levofloxacin + amoxicillin before so very probably you ve had a staph infection.
I take large amount of anti-staph antibiotics, per-os and iv.

So they did explant the Cx, did a washout and putted a Coloplast Genesis. 11 mm girth. I d ont know about lenght all I ve seen is the native Genesis is 26 cm and after mesureament they cut it to adapt the cylinder to body lenght.

The result is great, absolutly no loss of lenght and improved sensivity and bloodflow. There was a lot of inflammation and distal oedema but day by day it s better. Eventhough it s a semi rigid, I prefer this implant as the Cx, because of much better sensivity and bloodflow, it may be due to the inflammatory state (washout "special sauce" make the penis stingy inside).

I consider myself f****** lucky regarding the situation I was when I returned to the hospital.

Well done for going back and getting it sorted in time.

Sorry this has been so hard on you. It sounds like you are helping much better about it all.

Do you think you will return to an inflatable in time or will you just stock with the rigid?

Thank you ! I want to give time in order to see how the semi rigid can offer to me. Another surgery is feasible (need money for it), I had one surgery in november 2018, one in june 2019, one in august 2019. I want to give a try with my semi rigid.

Frenchboy,

Glad you posted about your journey, and I really do feel for you because I am going through the same thing.
Seeing another Dr., 3rd opinion about surgery, but have resigned myself to having to spend even more money next year for a new 3-piece.

History: Got my 3 piece this past August 21st. I knew something was up the 1st week, but had a very inexperienced Dr, and after 3 months, found out what I was feeling was because of an infection. My ballsac actually stuck to the pump bulb and block. 1st Dr. did not pick up on the fact that the pump itself was not moving around, like your balls. He dismissed my observation and pain, and just moved forward. It was until he tried to activate the pump that he finally knew I was not imagining the pain (esp. when I stopped his hand from pumping...like a little kid that you tell not to do something and they go ahead and start to do it anyway and you stop them by holding their hand back and telling them 'no')
2nd Dr., after entering his office, took one look and diagnosed it was an infection...even before he touched to to confirm.
He said it will all have to come out and put in a 1 piece, not exactly what I wanted to hear, esp. with the $$ i had to come up with. I was hoping a salvage could be done and replace the 3 piece with another 3 piece. But research, and your post, said it was not possible. I would have to take the long road.
Seeing 3rd Dr, who has been mentioned in several posts here, Dr. Kramer, and hoping for a reprieve, but guess the 3 piece would have to come out, rinse out infected area, put in 1 piece, wait 3 or 4 months, and then put in new 3 piece. Definitely not using 1st Dr.

Damnit, gotta put off being a porn star even longer, lol.
