Does risk of infection increase with multiple operations/revisions

Another thread
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12821
go hijacked (in which I sheepishly admit being complicit, drawn into it)
But it asks a good question pertinent to younger men who may expect to need implant replacement (revisions) a few times in their lifetimes.
How much risk of infection is there with the first revision? Does that risk increase with subsequent revisions.
I have put a post in that thread inviting continuation of the debate in a thread actually dedicated to the question. This one.
