Infected implant

Postby Frenchboy » Tue Aug 06, 2019 11:48 am

Well, after doctor examination it s definitive now, my implant is infected.
Pump is fixed down on the scrotum and is oozing to the outside.

No real pain but sometimes swelling on my sack
My surgeon is on holyday but has plan to write me on the emergency surgery next week. It s hard to wait, but I try to calme down myself.

One cylinder have moved and this may be due to the infection.
I think they will explant / washout thorougly with antibiotics and implant another one.

I feel distressed, I am 38 do not wan t to hear well, it s over for you sorry.

Wish me luck I ll keep you informed

A good precaution would be to put you on antibiotics. Even if they don't clear the infection, they would keep it from spreading. The most effective ones are intravenous which might require you to be hospitalized, but waiting a week does not sound reasonable unless they are doing something now and expecting current treatment to clear it up.

Are they working on clearing the infection?

When was the implant operation?

Hello Lost Sheep,
I am on antibiotics course : levofloxacin + amoxicillin + antifungic amphotericin B.
Surgery was 7 weeks ago.
It s cleay infected and located on the pump, corpora are not yet invaded.

I ve seen a surgeon who said I can explan you, but won t reimplant. Better wait a bit and have a chance for another implant. I am now waiting for a email or my surgeon, the top rank here on France.
I think he will do a salvage procedure with a malleable one. I ll see. A malleable could be better in my case because less infections risk and can switch in the future for a 3 piece

PCHelp76180,
Thank you really much for the picture. You ve through hard Time and won the battle !
I may need explantation because of the fistula downside the pump and one cylinder have eroded, which is to say when I pump it don t push the corpora and residual erection is poor now.

Well I could live like that if the per os are sufficient but my surgeon mailed me and will plan me for the next week.
You are precious gentlemen in this time of struggle. God bless you

Frenchboy, Sorry about getting an infection. Wishing you well in your treatment to clear the infection. Hope they can fix the issue and get you a new implant in the near future.

Watch out for reaction to the levofloxacin. It is nasty stuff. It caused the skin on my glans to explode off. Literally. Next day after taking it, all my skin was hanging off and bleeding. 2.5 years to get back to where it doesn't bleed when used. Still paper thin and limits my screwing time. I have a hard rod and no skin to back it up.

OMG... ... did oral antibiotics take care of it and how long did it take for the member to get well ? Scary that it happened at week 5 as one would think one would be completely in the clear by then... any theories as to why bacteria went wild that late in the healing process ?
