Regrets

Postby Magicmike » Sun Jul 28, 2019 1:14 pm

Everyone here probably had that WTF am I doing. I'm just like any other man on this site that knows that I need to do it but there is always that what if in the back of your mind. I'm have been thinking about all of the negatives vs the positives and I write everything down. By far the positives outweigh the negatives. I'm sure some of u have been in the same situation. I guess it like a new car u see what u like but it may take a while to find all the controls. I know for a fact that I have the right surgeon but the fact that he will be cutting on my Johnson totally freaks me out. I am a risk take so I know one day soon I will take the plunge. I just hope 2 years from now I will be saying that this was one of the best decisions of my life.

A never hard penis just didn't work for me.

These (good) surgeons really know how to size us and minimize infection risk.

I had serious problems with the WTF moment . When problems arose with my first implant a WTF moment along with the wrong doctor caused me to have it removed. I agonized over it for years till I decided to try again . Now 4 months after my second implant I am doing great and wonder WTF was all that needless misery I caused myself about. I do believe one thing that is lacking for men considering this procedure is psychological support .
65 Periodic ED since 20's due to venous leakage. Pills stopped working . Implanted 3/2012 removed 6/2012 in a"WTF Moment" after several complications. Re-implanted 4/5/19 AMS 700CX

Not one minute have I ever thought that. My only regret was not doing it when ed first showed its ugly head.

3 years ago I probably just had the venous leak. No peyronies then by trying to have sex with a semi soft erection. Would have kept all my 7 inches. No dents, hourglass or dealing with plaque. Ved, traction, pills, etc. Having to look at a penis that on it's best day would stare straight up at me.

If I had to deal with no penetrative sex for some reason or just giving oral so be it. But I can say I did what I can. But if this thing breaks tonight I would be at my surgeon tomorrow telling him to fix it asap. Not waiting any longer than I have to.

Not sure really what any negatives are. A little pain. So what. I had more from my back and shoulder issues. Lots worse.

The main 2 are potential infection and erosion issues. Not counting being shorted.

If you look at all the studies. Picking a good surgeon keeps all three of those to pretty low instances. Still possible but low. So pick the best one you can.

All my research was done pretty much on picking a surgeon once I found out about implants. If my general urologist had mentioned it me on day one I would have been looking for a surgeon then.

I am 57 and not wasting another day I do not have to. Way to much fun over past 5 months, well not first 3 weeks but like I said, so what. It's just pain. It goes away.

If a potential cure is something that you worry about? Let me address that. I'll have to use a different ailment. Restless Leg Syndrome. A family member struggles with it. A few years ago I read a really interesting article on RLS. Two drugs had been found, researched & released. They both had recently went off patent, generic to us. Unfortunately there is a sub group of people that these drugs are not very effective on. The writer went on to explain that it was unlikely that any research would be done on a new drug for this sub set. Such a high percentage of sufferers got relief form the now generic meds that no company would throw money at more research. Not enough sufferers to make it worth while.
I suspect that E/D is in the same position. The current oral meds are generic & work fairly well, for a time. Injectables fall under the same logic. Now we're down to surgery treatments. There're some surgery options but the implant seems to have the best success. Where in this picture is there room for a company to throw a modest fortune at research with a good chance of displacing generic orals, injectables or implants. Pretty much no where.
The future will be minor improvements discovered by accident, like Viagra was found. Implants will get some minor running changes but won't change very much.
My take on this, others may disagree. I'd like to hear your arguement that this won't be the path that E/D treatments follow. The future won't look much different than today. Thus, don't wait for a better option. It isn't coming because there isn't any money to be made.
Cynical.....maybe. Realistic.....I think so.

No doubt that it is a big step to take. Some have talked about a better treatment. My post was merely to give my take on that possibility. Not that it was your issue. Actually, I believe that most guys concerns seem trivial after they've had surgery & recovered.

Keep your expectations real, race driver. Same body and frame. Just a newly rebuilt engine.

Having said that, my rebuild can drive further, faster and longer than I can keep up with. So, it feels to me like I am limitless. Great feeling.

My advice is to 1) use a VED to get your penis accustomed to the erect condition and keep tissues elastic and oxygenated, 2) keep an aerobic exercise program such that you can maintain an elevated heart rate for at least 45 minutes 3) if you like man-on-top, do pushups (a LOT) and 4) strengthen those core muscles.

Congratulations and good luck.

Just more simple advice from an internet stranger. You mention a 2 year wait before surgery. No issues on my part. Each of us can only do what is within our power to do. Gotta play the cards that you're dealt so to speak. 2 years can easily turn into 3. Things happen. I would strongly suggest that you pick at least 1 if not 2 backup surgeon choices. As we know, things happen. I think you mentioned you planned on using Eid. Again, no problem. But, please consider for a moment that he is human. I don't know his age or retirement plans. But ill health, retirement or death could take him out of the picture. Since you're in the investigate mode. Make a short list rather than an only list. Consider it.
