I was wondering, how bad does coughing feel during the first 3-5 days. Seems like it could be pretty painful and I haven’t seen it mentioned that I remember.

On day five post-op now. Been painful to sneeze or cough but it is getting better. Had to double over or readjust my body using less air allowing more frequent shallow coughs as opposed to one or two large ones. Makes it tolerable.

Haywood is right. Coughing, sneezing, any kind of straining, bowel movements, rising from bed or a chair. My doctor forbade me from lifting anything over 10 or 15 pounds weight. Anything that involved torso muscles was excruciating the first couple of days.

Coughing and sneezing should be avoided the first week after any surgery. With an implant, I'm thinking that the type of surgery matters. I had my implant inserted through my scrotum and although not comfortable, there was no pain even in week one. The most discomfort came from my abdomen where the drain was in for a day. I could feel that discomfort for a good 4 weeks if I did much that flexed my muscles.
