Based upon the videos on YouTube. A measuring rod is pushed into the penis going both directions from the incision. The two measurements are added together & that is your size. Fairly simple.

The surgeon has a measuring rod he/she uses during the operation. You are measured up to the glands and down into your body. This is the space the implant will be inserted. The numbers are combined and you have your measurement.

Two Answers:
1) At one of the pre-surgery appointments, Dr. Eid stretched my flaccid penis, had a ruler in hand and basically said, "This is how big I can get you.'

2) He's obviously much more scientific and exacting when he sizes the actual implant in the operating room, but his rule of thumb proved spot on with me.

The first couple of answers you got were spot-on.

I will go on to specify:

The stretch test provides only an estimate.

The implant itself is partly outside your body (inside the penis of course) and partly inside your body (however deep your pelvic crus is). The depth of crus is not easily measured without cutting you open.

So, to "measure for the implant" your surgeon is measuring the cavity INSIDE your body.

Many people measure the penis for use in intercourse. This is the USABLE portion of the VISIBLE penis OUTSIDE the body. This is irrelevant to the surgical procedure of implantation..... But of vital importance to the man and his partner(s), of course.

When the measuring rod is inserted into the shaft and into the glands does the doc apply some force to stretch you length wise as if he was doing a stretch test to see how far your penis can stretch to max erection when implants are fully pumped? This way he can size you for max growth. I’m assuming that is how they do it but can those that have gone through it please shed some light on it.

Most of us slept through THAT measuring process. But the videos on the internet (and some surgeons give their patients videos of the operation) show some pretty energetic measurements. Not a few men find these videos unwatchably cringe-worthy.

The ones I have seen appear to be applying the same amount of force a good "stretch test" does. Which makes sense.

Also remember that visual penis length and usable penis length are not the same thing. When you grind your pelvis into your partners pelvis, another inch or two goes into her. That's why the penis enlargement operation is considered to be "for the locker room" and useless for sex. They cut the suspension ligament and allow more of the penis to fall out of the body (giving the illusion of a longer penis) The penis is still the same length.
