Revision

Postby tbonegas » Mon May 20, 2019 3:04 pm

Hi Guys just a quick question.
I had a meeting with my urologist recently, concerning a revision procedure.
He told me that, the possible chances of complications,ie: Infection, erosion etc etc,are doubled during a revision.

Have any of you had experience of this?

My local uro said he does not do revisions because of the higher infection rate. But he only does 2-3 implants a year. He also would not say what his infection rate was and just said it happens. A report I read listed infection rates 3 times that for a doc doing 0-2 a year as a doc that 31 or more implants a year. I cannot remember reading a report comparing infection rates of revision vs. virgin implants. From what I have read a revision is more difficult for the doctor but seems to be easier for the patient. I have not had a revision so I have no first hand knowledge but many other on this site have. One of the main reasons I chose my doc was for his low infection rate. Many others have low infection rates as well. That would be a good place to start in picking a surgeon.

After poorly choosing my initial implant surgeon, both of my revisions went very smooth (SURGEON, SURGEON, SURGEON)........ Dr Perito told me he fixes A LOT of other doctor's mistakes..... Good luck, man!!!
