Bailey’s going Bionic on June 18th!
Hi Guys, I now have my surgery scheduled for June 18th. I’m excited, but at the same time nervous about the outcome. After considerable thought & research with the internet, phone, & of course the best resource of all, the Franktalk website. You guys are awesome, & I really appreciate all of your guidance. Especially all the guys who created Franktalk. I am going with the AMS 700 LGX. This has probably been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. Every year when I would go to see my urologist, I would ask him if there’s anything new out there for me regarding my Ed, & every year he would smile & say only an implant. Of course I would smile back, & reply that I’m not going there. Well today I made that difficult, but hopefully the best decision for myself, & my wife. Bailey

What do you use now? Trimix? VAC? whatever you use now, pump it up and get a length and girth measurement for future comparison. Rooting for you. Never to old.

My uncle got his implant 15 years ago at age 72 and he's going strong. IJS
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.

I have only had success with injections, but now they aren’t an option anymore. Bailey

I second oldbeek's suggestion to get a vacuum erection device of some kind (even the inexpensive "novelty" store ones) to give your penis some pre-op stretching. Do not bother with constriction bands. The protocol is targeted towards just stretching your tissues to maintain elasticity and flush oxygenated blood through your tissues. There is also some evidence that it makes insertion of the implant easier for the surgeon. That ease translates to less trauma to you, bruising, post-op discomfort and faster healing.
Good luck.
There are two protocols I think are advantageous. Both have been described in legitimate medical journals. One is Continuous Vacuum and the other is Intermittent Vacuum as pre-op therapy
Pre-op, I did both.
Continuous vacuum for 30 minutes twice a day for a minimum of 60 days pre-op.
Then I read a paper describing a slightly different protocol
Intermittent vacuum (pump to full -tolerable- vacuum for two minutes if I recall correctly and then release to zero vacuum and repeat) continuing for 30 minutes. The intermittent feature has the benefit of inducing more flushing of blood through your tissues. Supposed to help oxygenation for tissue health.
I continued following BOTH protocols until my surgery (14 months) with no discernable ill effects.
I did have two minor bouts of temporary edema caused by too much vacuum which could have happened under either protocol, but is probably more likely with the continuous vacuum. The worse one resolved within 3 days of suspending the protocol.
By the way, Dr. Eid told me (in 2017) that he does not RECOMMEND pre-op vacuum therapy, but opined that it would not hurt, so suggested I could if I wanted. My local urologist/surgeon said the same thing and prescribed the device for me when I asked. There is credible evidence in peer-reviewed medical journals that pre-op VED therapy DOES help with restoring (not increasing, but restoring/maintaining) penile size, elasticity and tissue health (by promoting blood flow flushing through the tissues). Anecdotal evidence in one of the papers indicates that it makes the implant surgery easier for both the surgeon (insertion during the operation) and the patient (less penile discomfort during the first days of recovery). Looks like a win to me.

Alright Bailey,

I ordered a VED today from Amazon. I’ll start using it when it arrives until my surgery. Anything that might make my surgery easier for me, & my surgeon. I read a lot of post on Franktalk that said it is beneficial to use prior to surgery.

That's a good point... and might I add, take some before and after photos both erect and flaccid if possible.
