Does this cycle repeat itself any number of times, or is the "softening, re-stiffening" cycle able to be done only once?
If it is repetitive, you may have a leak in the valve allowing the fluid in the implant to return to the reservoir. If this is the case, it may be because the valve is not seating fully either because it is new or not being activated with enough emphasis when you initiate inflation.
If it is a defective valve, you may need to have the valve/pump assembly replaced. (Which is not nearly as invasive as replacing the entire implant.)
Just in case it is a defective valve, you should let your surgeon know AND THE COLOPLAST REPRESENTATIVE. Letting Coloplast know is important for warranty purposes. If it is not the valve, no harm done. If it is the valve, you may have a claim against Coloplast to take care of the costs. It does not hurt to
have this documented at Coloplast.I think the most likely scenario is that the valve is not seating because (of a combination of) the fact it is new and may require a bit more emphasis in the activation, which will get easier over time.
