Beware of pre-assembled implants

Postby DougAnd » Sat Apr 06, 2019 4:39 pm

Surgeons love to use implants that have already been put together at the factory. Trouble is that the tubes are too short and your pump will be permanently attached to your penis. Pump it up the pump rises with your penis. Plus when you deflate the pump permanently holds your penis up higher than normal. It cannot hang down. After 3 months I'd had enough and had mine surgically moved. Dr Kata added tubing to allow my pump to sit at the very bottom of my scrotum beneath my balls. Perfect fit perfect placement. Not in the way and never moves no matter how much I pump. Make sure that your doc knows you will not accept a pre-assembled unit period. That you want your pump close to your perineum with plenty of extra tubing and avoid another unneeded surgery.

I don't know if we can issue a blanket caution on pre-assembled implants.
My thought is some hack docs use the pre-assembled implant made for scrotal surgery on infra-pubic surgeries.
They do come in different lengths for the 2 approaches.

Mine was chosen by the AMS rep RN. She should have known the difference. I'm telling you the tubing is way too short at least an inch or more.

A kit for infrapubic has a different part #. Don't see how it could be improperly selected. I am happy with my infra pubic kit. Was unhappy with the tubing around pubic bone, but my body has got used to it. Working with hydraulic hoses, I have seen a lot of hoses assembled in the field improperly. I will take preassembled over field assembled any day.

What are the top docs using? I was told the more connections that the docs have to make the higher chance of failure.

June 19th is the surgery the 18th I'll see him. Plan on asking him to leave the pump alone.

Doug, I obviously don't know, but I think the pump will be replaced. Just from reading how it's done, I think putting in the splices has to be a PIA. It will be interesting to see how it goes and I really hope you get the revision from Dr Kramer.
I wish I had gone to see him. I would have had more follow up with him than my doctor. I'm lucky I ended up as well as I did though.

Sad fact is factory pre-assembled has a set length of tubing for cylinders and pump. They come in scrotal and infrapubic models. Some doctors will use an infrapubic kit for a scrotal implant because they have longer tubing and all the kits, especially B.S., are known to have too short of tubing. Dr. Eid has brought that issue up for years and supposedly it is finally to be addressed due to his part. We as humans are highly variable. If you do not believe it, look how many waist and leg length size combinations are available in slacks. The one size fits all tubing myth is a bunch of horse $#it and the fools who designed it to sell to doctors faster implanting for more surgeries per day should be kicked in the nut sack. Other than that highly restrained opinion, I have no other. Cheers.
