Surgery one week away

Postby Jimmgym » Sun Mar 03, 2019 2:07 pm

Hi everyone,
I am scheduled for my implant surgery on Monday, March 11. Because I am only one week away, with each passing day, I am more and more nervous. The first thing that bothers me is the fact that this is a procedure that can’t be reversed, just the finality of it all.
I’m also a little nervous about the amount of pain during my recovery. So just a few questions.
Is the recovery process manageable as far as pain?
I will be off work for five days, is that enough?
Has anyone used Dr. rusilko from Pittsburgh?
Does the erects implant feel the same as a natural one?
I apologize for the number of questions, this is all new to me and like I said I am very nervous but
Does the erects implant feel the same is a natural one?
I apologize for the number of questions, this is all new to me and like I said I am very nervous but Will follow through and have the surgery next week.
Thank you everyone for your input, anything that you could offer us would be appreciated.
Jim

Speaking only for myself (I was implanted with a Titan 8 weeks ago), the pain on days 3-5 was the worst I've felt in my life. Not gonna sugarcoat it. I was sent home with painkillers, and stretched them out to last as long as possible. Don't plan on doing *anything* that first week.

Maybe. Do you know what condition your doctor is sending you home in? I was left at 60% inflated for two weeks, and I could not wear anything but sweats and couldnt walk much for those two weeks.

No. As I have said before, you are not having your dick restored to your glory days. It is a NEW DICK. It feels differently in terms of weight, its less 'mushy' when flaccid, the erection looks different. I can feel the tubes at the base of my dick when flaccid through my skin - they even protrude a little from the skin, like pumped veins. Having said that, it is an erection that functions on demand, and that outweighs everything else. Just be mentally prepared.

I was nervous as hell too - I had never had an operation of an kind before. Now I was getting a new dick. Went through a serious "WTF did I do?!" phase a few weeks in, and for a day or two regretted the decision...but, 8 weeks out, things have smoothed out emotionally.

Thanks guys. I know that I am getting an AMS CX. Has anyone out there had Dr. Rusilko
as the surgeon? He’s locatef at first Upmc Pittsburgh
I know that I will spend one night in the hospital for observation, and will have my catheter removed the next morning. I believe he is Going to use two incisions, one inthe scrotum and one intra pubic for placement of the reservoir. I was also told that I would be left partially inflated. I know that I will be given pain meds as I do have a low tolerance for pain and was just concerned. Is there a lot of swelling as well?
Thank you everyone for the information, and thank you Frank talk for this forum
I have been living with ED for over 20 years and now that I have to go through this. And thank you for not sugarcoating things for me

I was off work for 7 days, but I have a desk job. I understand that guys who have jobs that involve heavy lifting need longer off work.

My penis with an inflated implant feels very much like a super-hard natural erection. And the good part is (1) I can have an erection any time I want to and (2) it will stay hard as long as I want it to.

Good luck with your CX.
I have the same and found the pain manageable, but still uncomfortable.

At first I had pain from the catheter.
My worst pain was from where the surgeon opened a hole in a groin membrane to fish the reservoir through.
I'm just under 6 weeks in and lifted a truck fender today and pulled that place again.
It felt like a hot poker and I probably shouldn't have done that.

Some good news was I was able to reach orgasm this morning for just the second time in maybe 7 or 8 sexual episodes post-op.

I find my penis and glans look and feel pretty normal and for that I'm fortunate.
I'm most probably a lot older than you but was sent home deflated. With the CX, I am always in a semi-hard state.
It isn't hard to hide. I wouldn't want to do much manual labor at 5 days, but desk work should be no problem if you are deflated.

I never did have the "WTF did I do moment.
I played golf at 2 weeks post-op and first sex at 24 days post-op.

The catheter was the worst part of the whole thing for me. I was implanted on a Friday morning and sent home to my hotel by noon. By Saturday night I was so uncomfortable with the catheter I called Dr. Eid and told him. He said to take it out if you feel you are comfortable with the instructions he gave me I did. Monday morning I saw him and was pumped up and asked if I could deflate which I did in his office. I was told to take two hot baths a day and cycle until I was pumped as much as I could stand for 20 minutes a session. The pain after that was more discomfort than pain. It was hard to sit for a few weeks for very long. I did roll up two towels and put them in a V to sit on so my balls were not on the seat that helped. Less than four weeks after the surgery I was having sex carefully at first I admit but enjoyable. By then there was no pain only very mild knowledge of the presence of the implant after 2 months it was not noticeable unless I thought about it. Now 4 months post surgery Its there and it's ready for action whenever I want and although it's not quite the same as a natural erection both my wife and I are very happy with the outcome I would do it again in a heartbeat. I believe that the more experienced your surgeon is the less discomfort you will have.

Time off work depends on what you do for work. If you have a low tolerance for pain and are going to be left partially inflated with a desk job will be much different than a manual labor job. I was sent home mostly deflated (starting day 6 post op today) and am happy I scheduled off 2 weeks. Now I'm self employed (electrician) so I can modify that time as needed and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. Doc did put me on a 15lb weight restriction for 3wks so that will limit me somewhat but will keep me from doing something I shouldn't. My wife is a nurse practitioner so she keeps me in line with following the doctors orders. As far a swelling/bruising, everyone is different. I swelled/bruised more that some but much less than others. You stated you'll have 2 incisions while I only had one. Might make a difference. That's about all I can input on your questions as I'm just out of the gate surgery wise myself but starting day 6 my swelling/bruising is much better but I've still got a ways to go.

Yes, the operation terminates natural erections irreversibly. But remember, your erections are terminated already and the prospect of a new technology or treatment able to reverse that termination is slim and distant. So, there is very little to be nervous about regarding the finality of it all. You are already at the end of THAT rope. There is nowhere to go but up (double entendre intended).

I took off work 3 weeks Two might have been doable. one week would have been pressing the issue unless I took half-days, but you would be well advised to keep your surgeon informed of your plans and follow his advice. A one-week recovery period might induce him to alter his advice on recovery.

I don't know what your work situation is , but if it is a high stress environment I would take as much time off as possible to get over any issues you may have especially mental ones.

I work at a hospital, and push a computer on wheels. Not really any heavy lifting. Any other advice or answers to my questions...Surgery is scheduled for Monday and I am starting to freak out..

Will the implant affect my bike riding?

Will the erection feel natural, like a turn on feeling with pre-cum?
Any problems with orgasm?
Do I need to premeditate before any other procedures in the future? Like dental appts etc.
What is the ideal placement position for the pump?
Thanks guys...you will have a new brother on Monday, March 11th. Wish me luck. I'm really really nervous

I will try to post updates after the surgery.
Jim
