What went right, What went wrong

Postby DougAnd » Sat Feb 16, 2019 12:37 am

For several months I've been analyzing my situation looking for a happy ending. Along the way I've identified some interesting things that might help others avoid a repeat. It would take much too long to list everything at once so I'm breaking it down in pieces.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
1. Excellent healing, minimum pain, swelling and discoloration. The sign of a skilled surgeon is all of the above. The less trauma the better the outcome. My two surgeons were the best of the best. Same is true for my revision. I easily returned to work 13 days after implant and 5 days after revision. Did not need pain meds except to sleep faster a few nights. (Was not used to sleeping all day and all night). Of course I drank a gallon of fluids daily and was propped up on a wedge pillow. You do have to help your body heal.
2. No infection. You might think well I would hope not! And you'd be right. No one expects to be infected. But the sign of a top notch surgical team is a very low infection rate. I had the best of the best team both times. Very VERY pleased with that.
3. Insurance paid 99%+. My out of pocket costs were almost non existent. Of course I pay $300.00 per month for insurance but well worth it for the coverage.
4. Dial a hardness. Never before could I have the type of erection I was in the mood for. Longer or shorter, softer or rock hard. And never for extended periods. You are in total control! You cannot imagine the mental boost. Want to know what my super power is?
5. No more pre ejaculation. Ever! The only thing worse that suddenly going soft is suddenly going soft after what 3 maybe 4 seconds? Really? Not anymore. The implant makes you really work for an orgasm. You can discipline yourself to go sooner but why? Enjoy the ride.
6. No expensive pills or injections and no vacuum rings limiting time and pleasure. You now and forever have an erection on demand any time any where any way. Oh yeah. :D
I'll post more as time permits for now good night.

7. After 4 months of he!! with a bad pump placement I had it surgically moved to just above my perineum, best choice I ever made, darkness to bright white light. I grab my scrotum one hand three fingers trap the pump pull up tight pop and pump first time every time. And the pump now sits deep allowing my junk to feel and look very natural. Amazing change over night. More on that in the wrong section.
8. Lost no length in fact gained 1/4" more than the night before implant. Still trying to figure this one out but at 6 months + I am longer than what my 2 surgeons showed me before implant, as long as the night before surgery and was for about a week 1/4" longer than that. Too much work for me but with the LGX it will come back eventually and more I'm sure. Don't need it don't care.
9. I've had one implant and one pump revision. So two scrotal surgeries and one pubic for the saline sac. So far only one small dead spot about an inch long vertical just above the bottom base of my penis and not very wide at all. Since I only found it after the second surgery impossible to say when I got it. Who cares? I don't.

I'm sure there are many more positive results from this implant don't want to dwell on small potatoes so on the WHAT WENT WRONG. But not today, later

Almost forgot one of the most important rights:
10. Every night when I wake up to void my glans is peaking out of my fly. Using vacuum therapy daily gives me chubbies 24/7. Not enough to use without an implant but nice enough indeed. :P :D :) Before starting to use VED last March everything was pretty dead
11. I had severe scarring and plaque per my doppler ultra sound. I used a large tube VED to stretch out my tunicas and corporas so that an LGX would easily fit and my surgeons would not need to cut open my shaft to get the cylinders in place.
Got to run

Couple of more rights:
12. ED shrunk me down about 1 5/8" from my youth. No thanks to my uro I discovered vacuum therapy and stretched myself back out in about 60 days. That made the biggest difference in my outcome.
13. All of my surgeries have been local, no air fare or hotel bills.
14. My tips are both deep into my glans good fit no floppy head.

Now for What Went Wrong
!. Could not afford airfare or hotel expenses for Dr Eid or Dr Kramer. Also did not find Dr Kata, Dr Carrion or Dr Havkin on edcure.org. My neighbor used Dr Havkin for his RP and is using him for his implant. The office is just down the road ( pass it every day) so I will be making an appt on Monday to check him out. He does it all and does it well.
2. None of the first 4 implanters were interested in preserving my length. They estimated a loss of between 2" to 1/4". I took the 1/4" loss deal came out ahead.
3. I specifically asked and was promised that my tips would be even to within 1 millimeter. They were off by 1/4". Everyone but me felt that was perfectly normal and well within legal limits.Guess crooked glans are pretty common don't need to be.
4. My Doppler showed excessive scarring and plaque buildup inside of my corporas. Guys if your test shows this only go to the best of the best. I used vacuum therapy to stretch out the scarring and open up my corporas. Did not realize that ED had thinned my tissue like toilet paper. My local yokels did nothing to prevent tearing and treated me like a normal patient by giving me the factory std: off in length by 1/2 cm implant.
5. Hours after my catheter was removed by the nurse my penis bent over and I felt something burning inside as my corporas and tuncas were sheered. At 20% pumped the uneven pressure from my tips tore me up and sent the left tip straight up into the right tip's position. This is called distal crossover and according to Dr Carrion it is quite common.
6. I visited 5 different uros before finding one who could tell me what had gone wrong and why my penis was bent and corkscrewed. One arsehole walked out on me for complaining.
7. I asked to be pumped 50 to 70% to prevent my penis from shrinking during the first few weeks after surgery. I was only given 2 pumps about 20%. Thin tissue and uneven tips turned that into a disaster. After bleeding from my urethra I deflated then tried to re-inflate several times to about 30%. Found out at the 6 weeks checkup that I had locked my pump and was actually fully deflated the whole time from about day 5 I think. Took me about 6 months to recover my lost length.
8. The AMS LGX comes in a pre-assembled unit. Apparently the tubing is too short for an average male and that forces the uro to put the pump against your penis very high in your scrotum. I am left handed could not pump without locking it up again and again and again. For 4 months I could not cycle regularly would put a heating pad on high to pop the valve.
9. My penis was cold as ice for months had to use a heating pad every night to sleep. (I live in Florida this was in the summer)
10. My 6 week visit told my uro I was left handed could not make the pump work it was too high. He said you didn't tell me you were left handed. Told him his measurements were arbitrary he said my measurements are exact. I replied there is less than 1 in 4 quadrillion chances that every patient just happens to measure to the nearest centimeter. Oh well I do make minor measurements. Told him my prosthesis had permanently deformed me, he reached out and bent me there you're straight. Then he drew a diagram explaining how they had done the surgery and showing me that my anatomy was the blame not him.
11. Before my pump was moved my penis stuck out 24/7 rubbing constantly very unnatural and uncomfortable. All that changed once the pump was placed right and let my junk sit naturally.
12. Woke up one morning with my skivvies red in blood. My right tip had deformed and pushed against my urethra causing it to bleed. Was able to deflate and relieve the pressure before it was too late.
13. I have no corporal or tunical barriers my cylinders freely wander around inside. Dr Carrion has warned me of an impending penetration and called for a complete rebuilding of my penis. I have Keloid disease and dread the possibility of having nodule scars on my shaft. Still deciding the best path.
14. I had pubic insertion of my saline sac. Expected to have a hernia type C section cut along a crease in my skin. Wrong. Ended up with a Frankenstein scar right above my penis.
15. My pump and cylinders were put in scrotal. Expected a 1 inch vertical cut in the center of my scrotum. Wrong. Got a 3 1/2 inch horizontal cut on the base of my penis.
16. Was told they no longer shave you because creates micro cuts that can cause infection. I naturally expected that they would also not use infection inviting holes created by stitches. Wrong. "Frankenstein got nothin on me". And staples to boot! Oh My Gosh!!!! My second surgery I insisted on surgical glue only. Very nice. No wound at all when I left the hospital. No possibility of infection. Went home and soaked in a nice hot tub. Oh Yeah!
Tried to make this short. Feel free to ask questions. Tried to un-speculate as much as possible.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
15. I was able to fix the distal crossover myself without surgery. (The CT scan verified that the tips were both in their proper location :D )

WHAT WENT WRONG
15. The CT scan showed extensive tissue damage. Also that both cylinders were deformed with the right one pointed inward against my urethra. Dr Carrion warned me of dangerous infection from a penetration and strongly suggested a complete rebuilding of my corporas and tunicas.

What went wrong
16. Today I was turned down by Dr Havkin, said I already have the best of the best with Dr Carrion. True but he is 250 miles away and no guarantee that he will do the surgery. Havkin no longer does robotic RPs. Bummer don't need one,,,,, yet. Also he only does T pellets cash for new patients. So three strikes and I'm out. A shame he's only about 7 minutes away.
Why haven't I seen Kramer you ask? Same reason I did not use him in the first place, cannot afford air fare and hotels. At this rate I may never. Meanwhile I live daily not knowing when or if erosion will win.
What went right
16. 2 days ago just for fun I fully pumped. Twisted me up again but I got a really tight erection the tips pushing very very hard and 6 3/4" long.
I think that as long as I almost never fully pump and keep using VED to stay elastic and healthy maybe just maybe I won't ever need to get fixed.
I can only hope.

Wrong
17. Just keeps getting better and better. This AM went to pee and noticed that I was twisted up again. My left tip was on top underneath the middle vein track. This time it took me hours to get things back almost right. Not sure where this thing is taking me. Guess I'll just have to ride it out.
