For the implanted guys, has this ever been a problem, either temporarily (at first) or permanently? Is one brand worse than the other (AMS vs. Titan)? I thought I saw a photo of one cylinder that had a rounder, softer tip? Any reason most of the tips are "pointed" rather than rounded?
Kudos to you for doing your research.
My situation is very similar to yours except it too 30+ years for me to reach the "I need an implant" stage. And I skipped the injectables.
My research did not tell me anything about tips and how they feel to me or my partner except that they MUST extend far enough into the glans to prevent "floppy head" syndrome (also known as "SST Syndrome"). So, what follows is mostly supposition.
If the tips do not extend into the glans enough to support it in line with your shaft, it may not be optimal for penetrative sex.
If the tips extend too far into the glans, they may be so evident to touch (hand, vagina, what have you) that it is distracting or even uncomforable, either for you or your partner.
How far is too far? If erosion is a danger. How far is not far enough? Most implantees seem to say 1/2 to 2/3 the way into the glans is desirable. DEFINITELY ask your surgeon to tell you everything he can about his opinion on the subject.
If your glans engorges, that will provide some "cover" for the hard tips and make for a more "cushioned" experience.
Less than maximum inflation (which several implantees use, for comfort of their partners) allows more comfortable sex. I always assumed it was the stiffness factor they were making more comfortable, but it could be the tips. I should have asked anyone who makes that comment exactly what it is their partner finds uncomfortable. As it is, my partner likes me to be fully inflated 100% in preference to 80% or 90%. That last 10% does not seem to me to be any different in rigidity, but does give a tiny bit more size in both length and girth. But only a little.
Most of the foregoing is supposition, so keep up with the research. And please let us know what you find.
(Note: I composed this before the other two posts were made, so there is some duplication. I prefer to think of it as ratification.)
